Visual Art
And so to the end of another wonderful year of fun, creativity and imagination in the art room, with the highlight being our fabulous art show- a big thank you to all who participated and joined in the celebration. The portfolios are home and the smocks are on their way home to be washed and returned on the first day back in 2025.
Here are some little abstract artworks by 5A done during our mindfulness moment at the beginning of class. These quiet art times give the students an opportunity to calm their busy brains, which in turn leads to enhanced creativity and imagination during the rest of the lesson.
Yayoi Kusama at the NGV!
I hope many of you will get an opportunity to visit this wonderful exhibition over the holidays, and experience the delightful artwork of this renowned Japanese artist. Many of the students have had an opportunity in art this year to explore some of her 'dot' techniques, along with infinity nets and obliteration rooms. We look forward to hearing and seeing the children's responses to this exhibition, with further 'Yayoi Style' art experiences planned in 2025. Have a peek at this: https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/yayoi-kusama/
Enjoy the holiday break and we look forward to more fun and creativity with art in 2025

Mandarin
In Mandarin class, our Grade 3/4 students are having a great time learning how to describe animals! They’ve been discovering ways to talk about an animal’s age, appearance, favourite foods, and personality—all in Chinese. Through fun and interactive activities, the students are expanding their vocabulary and gaining confidence in using descriptive language.
In this activity, each student will be challenged to write a short paragraph in Chinese based on a given animal description. This activity encourages them to put together everything they've learned, and it’s amazing to see their enthusiasm and creativity shine through as they bring these animals to life in a new language! Keep an eye out for some wonderful animal descriptions coming home soon!
You are all amazing!

Physical Education
As the year comes to an end, the focus has been on consolidating all the work students have done throughout the year into fun and engaging games. The junior years have been playing Christmas themed dances and games like "Throw the gifts down the chimney" and "Kick the Grinch". The senior years have wrapped up their flag football unit and are playing a few favourite games to see the year end. Thanks for a great year, have an awesome and active break and see you all in 2025.
Performing Arts
The show must go on! Book week can be a fraught time the performing arts room. While stories are at the heart of what we do, and colourful costumes are often employed, some costumes are more practical than others. That said it was amazing to see princesses, wizards, butterflies and all manner of characters joining in the drumming and acro-balance lessons.
Excelsior!
