As we approach the final few weeks of the year, teachers are busily finalising student reports and perfecting class structures. Students are presenting their achievements through expos, sports days and our Italian day. Thoughts are turning to next year with transitions organised, student leaders ready to be appointed and planning for our new foundation students to arrive.
This week culminates in the PFA's wonderful end of year picnic which highlights the amazing community spirit here at Ivanhoe Primary School.
See the PFA page for more details and keep an eye out for weather updates on Compass and Dojo.
Last Friday students from Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 participated in the Athletics morning. Students competed within their Houses and had a lots of fun participating in events such as the sack race, bean bag toss, relays, long jump and races.
It was a hot morning but everyone persevered and did an amazing job of demonstrating our school values.
At assembly on Monday morning, students from Ibbott raised the hall roof with cheers when Mr Bull announced that they were the winners!
The Start Up Strings group introduced our assembly on Monday and beautifully demonstrated how well they had progressed since the beginning of the year. Their performance was impressive!
Look out for next week's newsletter to see photos and find out about all the fun of Italiano Day! Fantastico!
Parents will be invited to watch the presentation of House Captain badges to our new House Captains at assembly at the beginning of next year.
As part of our School Strategic Plan Review, we are inviting parents/carers to identify highlights of Ivanhoe Primary School over the last 4 years (2021-2024).
The leadership team has brainstormed a list from which you can select up to five (5) highlights as well as there is a box at the bottom of the form to add what may have been overlooked. Please use the QR Code or link below to access the for

Sadly only two people have taken advantage of this opportunity in the two weeks it has been open to the community.
When the school review begins in early March there will be invitations to join forums and discussions to assist the school to develop its next School Strategic Plan.
Leapkids will offer an action packed summer holiday program starting on 30th December 2024 to 24th January 2025. Don't forget to book your place!
Dear school community
Please take the time to read the attached guide for further help with School Saving Bonus.
At Ivanhoe Primary School you can select to allocate all or part of your $400 to in-store-purchase of uniforms at Noone Imagewear or select and allocate all or part of your $400 to school activities.(camps, excursions, incursions, swimming) This cannot be reversed so please be sure about your choice.
If you have any unspent funds, or the funds you allocate to in-store purchases or online purchases cannot be used, these funds will automatically be available on your child’s school account as an activities credit on 1 July 2025.
We will not automatically allocate your funds to activities unless you action the choice through the portal.
Elections for School Council are held in February each year with the Council of this school comprised of 10 members elected by parents of the school and 4 members of staff. The Principal is a member by right of office.
We have been fortunate over the years to have maintained a strong and engaged School Council. Every year, half the School Council is renewed creating room for new community members to join. Likewise, Sub Committees of School Council open their doors to new members. Our Sub Committees of School Council in 2025 include: Finance, Education, Facilities, Out of School Hours Care and Fair & Fundraising.
The School Council is responsible for assisting the Principal and staff in supporting the school, in particular it is responsible for offering advice on the school’s educational programs, administration and expenditure of school funds as set out in the annual budget.
The overseeing of the long-term development of the school and the current maintenance of facilities is a task that rests primarily with the Principal and School Council.

Avoid making U-turns and using neighbours driveways to beat the traffic during drop off and pick up times. Lowe Street extremely tight and not suitable for drivers to turn at the bottom. Aisla Grove has a turning circle towards the end of the street and is much safer for pedestrians providing drivers do the right thing.
Unfortunately, some drivers are not heeding the call so we have asked Banyule City Council to step up their patrols and help keep our students safe.
As of last Sunday, a late fee of $15 will be applied to booklist orders. READ MORE
Meet the Teacher Day on Tuesday 10th December is the day students get to meet their new teacher for 2025.
This is the day that statewide transition occurs so our current grade 6 students will be visiting their high school, and we will be welcoming our 2025 foundation cohort. All students will spend a block of time with their 2025 class and teacher, this time will be spent focusing upon building relationships, collaborative activities and preparing for the new school year.
Students will be excited and understandably a little nervous. Change can be difficult for some, but our transition process is both robust and supportive of our student needs as we support students with the challenge and excitement of the time ahead.
Thank you for your continued support.
