Food at School & National Lunchbox Week

National Lunchbox Week from 9 to 15 February 2025 is an initiative of Nutrition Australia that aims to inspire Australian families to create enjoyable and nourishing lunchboxes.

Throughout the campaign we're celebrating the lunchbox and how it reflects diversity, enjoyment and nourishment.

Encouraging enjoyable and pressure free lunchbox experiences supports children’s wellbeing and helps build a positive relationship with food.

National Lunchbox Week helps families, schools and early childhood settings by:

  • inspiring practical lunchbox ideas and recipes
  • supporting positive lunchbox experiences for children
  • embracing the diversity of lunchboxes
  • promoting supportive, judgment-free conversations around food.

Nutrition Australia's Healthy Lunchbox Week from 4 to 10 February 2024 is an annual campaign inspiring families to create healthy and enjoyable lunchboxes. As families and students are settling back into the routine of packing the daily lunchbox, this week is an ideal opportunity for schools to share lunchbox tips and provide educational opportunities in the classroom.

Nutrition Australia have teamed up with a range of other health organisations providing plenty of handpicked credible nutrition information on the one website. Visit the Healthy Lunchbox Week website for videos, downloadable recipes and fact sheets.

EHPS students must bring the following to school each day:

  • Brain food (cut up fruit/vegetables recommended)
  • Snack
  • Lunch (or lunch ordered from Canteen on Monday, Wednesday or Friday)
  • Water bottle.

Food at school:

  • Must be provided ready to eat, including providing cutlery if required.
  • Does not require heating/cooling; there is no facility/provision to store or heat student's food.
  • Food choices take into account the allergy needs of a number of our students with life threatening allergies.
  • Definitely no take away food (even if you’re running late and dropping food off; take away food should be for after school hours only).
  • Ensure your child is able to manage their lunchbox/food containers independently; practising at home to make sure your child can access/open their food containers.
