Australian Open Coin Toss

On the 20th of January 2025 I was selected by Tennis Australia to perform the coin toss for the fourth-round match at the Australian Open. The match I did was between World Number 8 player, Alex de Minaur and Alex Michelsen (American).

The match was at night on Rod Laver Arena, and I was able to walk down the corridor of past champions. When I got onto the court, I was nervous because there was over 14,000 people in the crowd which made the stadium loud.

After the coin toss was completed, I was allowed to sit court side and watch the match which was really cool. They hit the ball very hard and are very quick around the court!

Overall, it was a great experience and one I will always remember.

Australian Open Camp

During the second week of the Australian Open I took part in a National Tennis Camp for the top players in Australia in the 10 and under, age group. It was held at the National Tennis Centre, home of the Australia Open. The camp went for five days and four nights and included children from all over Australia.

To be selected I had to be in the top 4 ranked players in Victoria, and given I was number 3, I was selected. Every day during the camp we would play two singles and two doubles matches, then we would train for off court strength and conditioning along with mindset focus.

Other highlights I had during the camp were:

  • Learning from Pat Rafter who gave us a masterclass on how to volley. Pat Rafter was a former world number 1 who was an expert at volleying, so it was really cool to learn this from him.

  • Had a training session with former world number 1 Lleyton Hewitt who taught us the importance of competing hard and being determined. He was really encouraging.

  • Also, I trained next to Jannick Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Ash Barty. It was amazing to see all these players up close.

I made heaps of new friends from all over Australia and had a really amazing time which I’ll never forget.
