Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 10 and the final newsletter for the year. There have been many accomplishments throughout the year and so much to be proud and thankful for. Many of these accomplishments have been listed and detailed in our school Yearbook, so make sure you order a copy through the QKR app for $30.

Before we wrap up the year we have a number of key events to get through.

On Tuesday, we held our Orientation Day for our Preps for 2025 and our meet the teacher for our students in Grade 1-6. This provided the opportunity for our students to be informed of who their teacher and classmates would be for 2025.

Our current enrolment for 2025 looks to be approximately 615 students across 29 classrooms. That puts our average class size at 21.2 students per classroom, however not all classrooms will be at that number, we could only be so lucky if our enrolments were able to be capped at a certain number. I anticipate that as Delacombe continues to grow as a suburb our school will need to accommodate these enrolments until another school is built in our area. Even though we have grown as a school, we continue to provide modern and up to date classrooms, resources and play spaces that other schools do not have the budget to provide.

At the end of this year we say goodbye to a number of staff who will either not be with us in 2025 for a number of different reasons. Those staff are

Ms Gerrard (now Mrs Walters) who is heading overseas in 2025
Mr Egan is also heading overseas in 2025
Mr Collins who is moving across to Lucas PS (sister school of Delacombe PS)
Mr Pitts who is taking up a role through the NDIS supporting students and families
Mrs Bailey who will be taking 6 months maternity leave and will return later in the year

We wish all those staff all the best in their new adventures for 2025 and thank them for their service and efforts in 2024.

In other staff news Ms Meg Sampson will be getting married and return back in 2025 as Mrs Meg Redden. We wish Meg all the best on her big day.

The classroom allocation of teachers across the 29 classrooms is listed below.

We still have some staff to employ for next year that will be added as support to some of the classrooms. This won't be finalised until the last day of school and will most likely be communicated next year to parents.

In terms of specialist for 2025. Our Grade 2s will have a full year of Music and our Grade 3-6 students will continue learning Chinese language.

STUDENT LEADERS 2025

This week we move through the remaining positions we have on offer for students in our school. They will be presented with their badges at the final assembly on Wednesday 18th December commencing in the stadium at 2.20pm.

FAREWELL ASSEMBLY AND GRADE 6 FINAL WALK THROUGH THE SCHOOL

In our farewell assembly we will also recognise those students who have been successful in gaining scholarships as they move across to secondary school. We will also be farewelling our Grade 6 students, families and staff that are leaving the school in 2024.

At the end of assembly we will have our Grade 6 students will commence their final walk from the new Mod 10 (Grade 6 centre) and through the corridors of the school and exit out of the Prep classrooms and onto the P-2 synthetic pitch (where it all started in 2018). Below are some locations that parents may wish to position themselves to take some photos. BYO tissues.

PICNIC DAY - Wednesday 18th December

Below is a list of activities that will occur at the school on Picnic Day. This will occur at the school and commence at 11:30am and wrap up around 1:15pm. The cafe will be open for parents.

BUILDING NEWS

We hope to gain access to our new Grade 6 centre this week and begin the moving process of classrooms in preparation for next year. Our current Grade 4 portable (4D & 4C) will be removed from the school site and it is more than likely that another double storey modular building will be placed there at some stage in 2025.

BELEZA - UNIFORM SHOP

We have recently been disappointed with some of the decisions Beleza have made in the past month around their handling of the School saving bonus. As a school we had several meetings prior to the School saving bonus initiative to prepare them for an influx of requests. Both myself and Dan Cook (School Council President) have communicated our disappointment with the company and will raise it for School Council in 2025 as a discussion point. We are aware of the situation and hope it improves for the future.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Thank you for supporting the summer school uniform. We have had very few students we have had to follow up with about hats and wearing them. This has made life easier, particularly when the sun has been out more than we have been used to.

We have noticed that an increase in the number of bike shorts and low cut shorts has been worn and staff are following up students who are wearing them and informing them of the correct uniform.
