GEMCO RAIL Site visit
Seven of our students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Gemco Rail site, where they engaged in meaningful discussions about career pathways in the rail industry. The boys asked insightful questions and demonstrated a genuine interest in the exciting job opportunities Gemco Rail has to offer.
The next step in this journey involved arranging work experience placements, paving the way for potential future apprenticeships.

Beacon Foundation – Polish Program
During week 2, a group of our students participated in the Polish Program, run by the Beacon Foundation. This one-day program focused on building essential employability skills and helping students connect classroom learning to real-world workplace expectations. Delivered by a professional Beacon Facilitator with extensive industry knowledge, the program equipped students with practical skills and confidence as they prepare for their transition from education to work.
The students found the experience highly valuable, and we are proud of their engagement and enthusiasm throughout the day. Thank you to the Beacon Foundation for bringing such a meaningful opportunity to our school!
Humanities and social sciences challenge day
Week 6 saw a group of stage 5 and 6 students experiencing the exciting opportunity to participate in the inaugural Humanities and Social Sciences Challenge at the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan campus. The event featured hands-on creative activities, inspiring insights from academics and current students, and an engaging competition showcasing how the humanities and social sciences create real-world impact. The students represented our school brilliantly, and we are proud of their enthusiasm and participation in such a valuable learning experience.

Callaghan campus
Stage 5 and 6 students had the opportunity in week 8 to visit Newcastle’s Callaghan Campus, where they explored a range of dynamic fields, including Engineering, Education, Health, and Arts.
The day provided students with valuable insights into these disciplines through interactive sessions and discussions with university staff. This hands-on experience gave them a clearer understanding of potential career pathways and the opportunities available at the University of Newcastle. We commend the students for their enthusiasm and curiosity during this inspiring visit!
Newcastle Uni’s NuSpace building
On 6th December, students visited Newcastle City Campuses, including NUspace, Q Building, and the Conservatorium of Music, to explore career pathways in Business, Law, and Creative Industries.
The visit offered students an immersive experience, with opportunities to engage with university staff and learn about these dynamic fields through interactive sessions. This inspiring day provided valuable insights into potential future careers, and we are proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by all students who attended.
Ourimbah campus
Week 7 saw a group of our students travel down to the Central Coast Campus to explore a variety of exciting career pathways. The day included insightful sessions at the Ourimbah Campus, highlighting disciplines such as Food Science and Human Nutrition, Podiatry, Marine Science, and Oral Health Therapy.
Students had the opportunity to learn about these fields through hands-on activities and discussions with university staff, gaining valuable insights into potential future careers. We are proud of their enthusiasm and engagement throughout this enriching experience!
Robert Beggs & Peter Hilder Memorial Award Ceremony and Industry Recognition Dinner
Mr Hope and Mrs Tilden had the pleasure of attending the Robert Beggs & Peter Hilder Memorial Award Ceremony and Industry Recognition Dinner at Easts Leisure & Golf Club. The evening was a wonderful celebration of the incredible achievements of Year 11 and 12 VET/TVET students, showcasing their dedication and success in vocational education.
