Wellbeing
Mr Shuttleworth and Mrs J
This year, Mrs J will be joining Mr Shuttleworth to coordinate all things Wellbeing at Beaufort. She is taking on the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader role, part of the Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative (Home - Mental Health in Primary School (MHiPS)).
Together, they'll be working on implementing supports for students to support their mental health and wellbeing. We refer to the different supports as:
In 2026, we're continuing to work with the following wellbeing programs:
Elements of the Berry Street Educational Model will be embedded throughout the school day. So far, we have started using Morning Circles to start our day, Ready to Learn Scales and Plans, and Brain Breaks.
The Resilience Project will be taught in the classroom as part of Social-Emotional Learning this year. The lessons will focus on the GEM principles of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy.

Respectful Relationships will also be taught by the classroom teachers as part of Social-Emotional Learning. The sessions will cover topics including Emotional Literacy, Positive Coping and Help Seeking.
We have been working with One Red Tree since 2023 to place provisional psychologists in our school. Each semester, we have one provisional psychologist on site who will work with eight students alongside their families and school staff. This service aims to provide targeted strategies to support students' mental health and wellbeing. This semester, we welcome Adrian who will be with us on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Hands On Learning formally started with Mr Reid last year with two small groups of students in years 4-6. The program aims to build skills such as teamwork, communication and resilience while working together on projects that give back to the community. We will be meeting with students over the next two weeks to decide who will be joining the program this year.

If you think your child requires additional support with their mental health and wellbeing, we encourage to discuss this with their classroom teacher first - they're the ones who know your kids best. If it seems like they need support beyond what can be provided within the classroom, please come and see Mr Shuttleworth or Mrs J.
