Accountability

Welcome Back! Bienvenue à CPS 2026!

Start of the year

We do hope that you have had a restful and nourishing break and that you are excited to be starting another year of teaching and learning at CPS!

As you can imagine, the holiday break has been a busy time at school.

The task of cleaning out every room, every corridor, every cupboard in the Administration Building and the classrooms around the Blue Area has been massive. Sue has worked tirelessly throughout the break to achieve an organised set up for teachers and admin staff alike. When you see her, please thank her as she has worked above and beyond the call of duty! Thanks to everyone who came in with a special call out to Michael who stepped in to lighten the load considerably!

We are sending out the Briefing Notes early as we feel that it is important that you are aware of what is happening at school and how you may be able to help.

Renovations

As you may remember, the concrete stairs outside the new rooms have had to be re-poured. This has delayed the internal works which comprises of all of the finishings - handrails, light fittings, tvs, cleaning etc.  We now hope that this work will be signed off by Wednesday 21 January. This does not leave a great deal of time to set up the newly renovated classrooms. Your help will be critical.

Please see the Organisation tab for information about access to classrooms.

The Agendas for Tuesday 27 January and Wednesday 28 January will be sent on Friday 23 January.

We look forward to seeing all those attending the First Aid courses on Friday 23 January and will keep you informed about accessing the new rooms.

Welcome New and Returning Staff Members!

We are excited to welcome on board several new members of our CPS staff team and also a couple who are returning after some time away.  Now that 2026 is officially here we would like to welcome:

  • Danika Guenard (Foundation - Bilingual)
  • Charlotte Paine (Foundation - Bilingual)
  • Apeksha Bagrecha (Yr 4 French)
  • Monica Gracias (Yr 4 English)
  • Ally Brown (Admin)

Thank you in advance to all staff for helping our new and returning colleagues settle into life at CPS and for the support we know you will provide.  Our new staff will be going through a thorough induction process, particularly during Term 1, and we know that, as colleagues, all staff will be there to answer questions and support where needed.  We look forward to a new year of working and learning together as the 2026 CPS team!

Staff Handbooks

We do our best to document all of the 'need to know' information about our school. To ensure a productive team, it is important that you are familiar with their content. Here are the updated documents:

PDP

To ensure a consistent approach to teaching and learning, along with the school priorities, additional aspects of our professional responsibilities has been added to our PDP documentation.

To be presented prior to meeting so as to be discussed during the meeting:

  • Book work - three examples
  • Planner - explain lesson development and how you incorporate and indicate our priorities - that you have planned

Leadership to do a walk through prior to meeting:

  • How you have set up The Third Teacher - classroom organisation that supports a calm and orderly learning environment and facilitates learning.

Leave requests

  • Leave requests are to be approved two terms prior to your proposed leave except in compassionate cases.
  • Remember that indicating your intention to take leave in the annual staff intentions document does not equate to an approval.
  • Make sure that you complete a CPS Leave Request form which is available to be downloaded in the Daily Organisation folder.

Professional responsibility - mandatory: signing in and signing out

In 2025 we had a focus on the importance of signing in and signing out on Compass.

Last term we kept a tally of our signing in and signing out with the express intention that everyone would be signing in without fault.

There are still a few colleagues who have not developed a routine, so we will have a chat at the beginning of the year to find a way to be doing so every day.

This term is the last term of leniency as we should not need reminding. If the system is a challenge and you have a solution, please raise this with me as we are always happy to improve our processes mindful that this task is a basic professional responsibility which is part of what we are paid for.

Congratulations Caroline Julien!

Whilst still working through her two year Training Visa internship, Caroline has also completed the project and documentation which have enabled her to become fully registered with the Victorian Institute of Teachers.

Félicitations!
