Principal Message

Be Kind, Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be resilient, Be ready

Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome to a new school year at Our Lady Star of the Sea, and to the first newsletter of 2026. It is with great joy and gratitude that I write to you for the first time as Principal of this wonderful community.

I feel incredibly blessed to be joining Our Lady Star of the Sea and to be walking alongside your children, families, and staff this year. From my very first days, I have been struck by the warmth, care, and strong sense of belonging that exists within our school. There is a genuine spirit of faith, learning, and community here, and it is a privilege to be part of it.

As a Catholic school, we are guided by the example of Jesus, placing love, compassion, and respect at the heart of all we do. Our Lady Star of the Sea is a place where children are known, valued, and encouraged to grow — academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. This year, we will continue to nurture curious learners, confident individuals, and kind, responsible citizens.

I would like to acknowledge and thank our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to create engaging learning experiences and supportive environments for every child. I also extend my sincere appreciation to our families for the trust you place in us and for the strong partnership you share with the school. Together, we play an important role in helping our students flourish.

As we begin this new year, I look forward to getting to know each of you better and to building strong relationships across our school community. My door is always open, and I welcome your conversations, ideas, and involvement to enliven our school.

On Shrove Tuesday, the 17th of February, we will have our Annual Pancake Night. I am really looking forward to sharing this first community event for the year with you all. It will be a lovely opportunity to celebrate the beginning of 2026, gathered as a community.     The following morning, we will join St Mary's Parish for the Ash Wednesday Mass at 9:15 am. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our journey toward Easter, a period of prayer and compassionate service to others. Please take note of our Ash Wednesday celebration, and join us if you can.

May this year be one filled with learning, growth, joy, and God’s blessings.

Warm regards,

Pamela McKillop
