Parliament of Victoria and the Old Treasury Excursion

Year 9 Students recently attended a guided tour of the Old Treasury and the Parliament of Victoria in the city. They completed a series of workshops to develop their understanding and skills related to Australian Democracy, political parties, governmental bodies, representative government and legislation. Students sat in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council where our Members of Parliament sit weekly to introduce, discuss, and develop State legislation and laws. At the Old Treasury, students were led through a tour of Australia's rich history.

Year 12 First Aid Training

Over the course of February to June, year 12s are partaking in First Aid Training during some of their Extended Homeroom lessons. Mr T has done a fantastic job at working with the students in obtaining their First Aid qualifications. Having their First Aid certificate will be beneficial to the students on their resumes as they work towards obtaining employment.

“[The course] has been both informative and something that confuses me as it was interesting to understand that in CPR that if you break someone’s ribs it means that you are applying enough pressure on the compressions. I appreciate how the ones running the first aid course attempt to involve people in the room as it tries to make the long lectures of the course to be interactive.” - Wyatt Phelan

“I found the first aid training to be very informative. The instructors were supportive throughout the sessions, ensuring every participant understood the content and were efficiently able to answer any questions that were raised. Additionally, the training was entirely practical - the inclusion of the dummy's allowed a simulated environment to educate us on how to complete CPR accurately - and the interactive nature of the training was engaging.” - Melisa Cukovic & Taleea Limbrick

Year 11 Elevate Workshop - Study Sensei

During their first Extended Homeroom session this term, the Year 11s partook in a workshop from Elevate Education. This was the first workshop of three. The workshop covered the following topics:

“The program was very well presented and very helpful for me since we have a lot of work in year 11. I will be using the triangle of studying in the future.” - Joel Hanley VCEVM student

“Helpful and informative. The colour coding of notes to help you remember was an important thing I learnt” - Lily Firman VCE student
