The Arts
The Year 5 and Year 6 students have started Term Two with a construction unit of work. Students have learnt about the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and are using her flower sculpture artworks as inspiration. They began with moulding wire into a sculpture and are now enjoying covering them with plaster.
The Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 artists have been exploring the art form of collage and have been having lots of fun cutting different shapes from coloured and patterned paper.
RMIT Workshop with Dr. John Power and Jo Mott
A few Friday’s ago, Dr. John Power from RMIT came to Rowville Primary School together with Jo Mott to run an art workshop. The Year 3, 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to participate in this workshop and learnt about home and habitat to inspire their artworks of Australian Native animals. The students were so engaged and got a lot out of the experience. John is taking the students' artwork back to RMIT to begin the process of generating an animation collage. We are looking forward to seeing what their team put together.
