Community Partnerships
Junior School - Zoos Victoria & Werribee Zoo
Bemin Secondary College is in the early planning stages of an exciting partnership with Zoos Victoria and Werribee Zoo! This collaboration, focused on our junior school students (Years 7-9), will be integrated into our Innovations Inquiry subject and across various curriculum areas.
Through this initiative, students will engage with real-world conservation challenges, biodiversity, and animal welfare themes. They'll work closely with experts from Zoos Victoria and Werribee Zoo, diving into habitat preservation and endangered species studies.
Although still in its early stages, this partnership promises hands-on learning experiences, exclusive tours, and workshops, all aimed at nurturing environmentally conscious citizens.
Senior School - Year 10 Code to Connection and Wyndham Tech
Students in the Year 10 Code to Connection elective have been embarking on an exciting journey into the realm of game design, thanks to weekly visits to Wyndham Tech School. Led by their dedicated teacher, Shane Edge, these visits have become an integral part of their learning experience.
Last term, students delved into the intricacies of creating an eGames tournament, immersing themselves in the strategic planning and logistics behind such events. This term, their focus has shifted to hands-on game environment design using Unreal Engine, a cutting-edge platform in the gaming industry.
These visits to Wyndham Tech School not only provide students with access to state-of-the-art technology but also offer a collaborative learning environment where they can exchange ideas and support one another's growth.
As they continue to explore the limitless possibilities of game design, we eagerly anticipate the innovative creations that will emerge from this talented group of young developers.
Planning for 2025
Building Partnerships with Organisations
At Bemin Secondary College, we believe that strong ties with our community are essential for enriching students' educational experiences. We continue to actively collaborate with various community organisations to forge meaningful partnerships that enhance learning experiences.
These connections will benefit our students both inside and outside the classroom by providing students with real-world insights, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to make a positive impact in their community.
As we continue to strengthen our community ties, we invite any local organisations who share our passion for education and community involvement to reach out and explore potential collaboration opportunities. Together, we can create enriching experiences that empower our students and foster a stronger, more vibrant community.
If your organisation is interested in partnering with us, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Bemin Secondary College on 03 7300 7977 or bemin.sc.everton@education.vic.gov.au.
Subjects and Timetable for 2025
As we head into June 2024, our attention is already shifting towards preparations for the 2025 academic year. With the introduction of two new year levels - Years 8 and 11 - there is a flurry of activity behind the scenes as we prepare for what promises to be an exciting chapter in Bemin Secondary College's journey.
In the early planning stages, our dedicated staff are hard at work crafting curriculum programs and planning for a timetable to ensure a seamless transition for all students. From aligning course offerings to accommodating the needs of diverse learners, there is a lot to consider as we strive to provide the best possible educational experience for every student.
While much of this work will unfold behind closed doors, every decision is made with careful consideration and the best interests of our students at heart. As the year progresses, you can expect to see updates and announcements as new subjects and timetable details are rolled out.
