Wellbeing Small Group Sessions
Term 2 has seen the commencement of small group sessions led by our dedicated Wellbeing Team of Emily, Daniella and Jordan. These sessions help to foster a supportive and nurturing environment within our school community while addressing the wellbeing learning needs of our students.
The primary focus of these sessions is to explore crucial topics such as positive friendships, respect, and the art of making meaningful and positive connections. Through engaging and interactive discussions and activities, our wellbeing staff are working closely with students to enhance their social and emotional learning, equipping them with the skills necessary to navigate their interpersonal relationships effectively.
Throughout the coming weeks, the students will delve deeper into various aspects of social-emotional learning. These sessions are crafted to help them develop a stronger sense of self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills, all of which are essential for their personal growth and well-being.
Feedback from the initial sessions has been overwhelmingly positive. Students have expressed appreciation for the opportunity to connect with their peers and the wellbeing staff in a supportive setting.
The Wellbeing Team is committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for students to express their thoughts and feelings. By engaging in these sessions, students are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and learn from one another, fostering a sense of community and mutual respect.
We believe that these sessions will have a lasting impact on our students, helping them to build strong, positive relationships both within and outside of the school environment. The Wellbeing Team is excited to continue this journey with our year 7 and 10 students, supporting their growth and development every step of the way.
We look forward to sharing more updates on the progress and achievements of our students as they continue to explore these vital topics. Thank you for your ongoing support in promoting the well-being and success of our students.
A Visit from the Victorian Police
On the 10th of May students from year 7 and year 10 had the unique opportunity to engage with members of the Victorian Police in an educational presentation focused on community safety and online security. The incursion, aimed to educate our young people on crucial aspects of personal safety in both physical and digital spaces.
The session, conducted by officers from the Victorian Police, covered a range of topics pertinent to the students' everyday lives. These included tips on staying safe within the local community, recognising potential dangers, and understanding how to seek assistance when needed. Additionally, in the year 7 session the presentation delved into the importance of online safety, highlighting the risks associated with internet use and providing practical advice on protecting oneself in the digital sphere.
One of the notable aspects of the event was the exemplary behavior displayed by the students. Throughout the presentation, attendees demonstrated a high level of respect towards the visiting officers and actively engaged by asking insightful questions. This enthusiastic participation underscored the students' genuine interest in learning about critical issues affecting their safety and well-being.
The Victorian Police officers leading the session were impressed by the students' attentiveness and eagerness to learn. They were happy to hang around briefly after the presentations to engage with our students and ask additional questions.
Overall, the incursion proved to be a valuable educational experience for our students, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to navigate their communities responsibly and safely. The event also highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies in promoting youth safety and well-being.
The college looks forward to organising similar initiatives in the future, fostering a culture of awareness and preparedness among its students.
