Welcome back from your easter break. I hope you all had a fantastic time with your family.
This term our students will be working on their athletic skills. Our Prep – year 1 students will continue to work on their fundamental movement skills while our year 2-3 students will begin to develop their sprinting and jumping techniques in a variety of challenges in our “Ready set go” unit. The year 4-5 students will further develop the technical aspects of their skills and develop their skills in our “Take your marks, set go” unit. The year 6 students will be learning about different elements of fitness and then designing programs to improve various areas of fitness in our “Fitness fun" unit.
Cross Country
What a great day! Thank you to all of our amazing Tally community that came out to celebrate our first sporting event of the year. Well done to all of our students that ran on the day. It was fantastic to see our students demonstrating the Tally way as they pushed themselves to do their best on the course. There were some outstanding displays of sportsmanship, teamwork, perseverance and resilience on the course and at the finish line. Well done to our students.

Sporting Achievements
Congratulations to Hudson who has qualified for the Qld gymnastics team and will compete at the National Titles in 4 weeks. Great work with all of your training and good luck for nationals.
Well done to Noah who competed at the Qld titles for swimming just before the holidays. He walked away with a number of PB times for his races. Keep up the good work Noah.
Congratulations to Emma and Julian who have both qualified for the South Coast hockey team and will now compete at the Qld titles. Good luck to you both.
Congratulations to Ben who finished third at the National Titles and will be heading to America to compete in the BMX World Titles in three weeks. Ben has been training hard and has had some great results in his comps. We are looking forward to seeing him smash it on the world stage. Good luck Ben!
Oceanic District Trials

South Coast Trials
Good luck to Joey who is competing in the South Coast rugby league trials in the coming weeks.
Interschool Gala Day Training - Year 5 and 6
The year 5/6 students have begun their Friday afternoon sport training. This happens every week, weather permitting. Students will train for their upcoming Interschool Sports day during week 9 of this term and week 2 and 9 of next term. Students play in their selected sport between 7 other schools. The sports on offer this term are rugby league, Oztag, AFL, soccer, tennis, netball, and Ultimate frisbee. Our Friday afternoon sport is free for the students and is facilitated by Tallebudgera State School staff.
Free Tuesday and Thursday Afternoon Sport
Our free afternoon sport will kick off in week 4 of this term and run for 4 weeks. Starting on Tuesday, May 7 will be athletics and on Thursday, May 9 will be hockey. These sessions are held on the school oval and provide an opportunity for students to trial a new sport before signing up to club sport. These sessions are completely free and are funded by the Australian Sporting Commission Sporting Schools program. A qualified coach will run each of these sessions and a Tallebudgera State School staff member will be there to assist with supervision. Parents are invited to come and watch the afternoon sessions. Parents must collect their child from the school oval.
Rookies to Reds
Our Rookies to Reds rugby union program kicks off next Wednesday, 1 May.
