Digital Safety and Wellbeing Workshop for Parents and Carers  - Last Night

Last night, Bec from Evolve Education conducted a Digital Safety and Wellbeing workshop for parents and carers. The session was reasonably attended and we strongly encourage at least one parent/carer from each family to attend these sessions in the future. As school and parents we prioritise the safety of our children. Regularly engaging in these sessions provides us with the skills to be able to address incidents and concerns online as they arise. Below is a document outlining the process of implementing parental controls on Roblox.

Cross Country at Princes Park Wednesday 24 April - Years 3 to 6

Congratulations to all students in Years 3-6 who participated in the annual CNPS Cross Country today. We are very proud of all the students who participated and wish those moving on to District Cross Country all the best.

ANZAC Day Thursday 25 April

Tomorrow we commemorate ANZAC Day. This afternoon, our Student Representative Council hosted an assembly to acknowledge and commemorate ANZAC Day tomorrow.

Anzac Day falls on the 25th of April each year. The 25th of April was officially named Anzac Day in 1916.

On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These became known as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.

The Anzacs landed on Gallipoli and met fierce resistance from the Ottoman Turkish defenders. Their plan to knock Türkiye out of the war quickly became a stalemate and the campaign dragged on for eight months.

At the end of 1915, the allied forces were evacuated. Both sides suffered heavy casualties and endured great hardships. Over 8,000 Australian soldiers were killed.

The meaning of Anzac Day today includes the remembrance of all Australians killed in military operations.

Aboriginal Service People

Military service and war is a significant part of our Indigenous history and current experience. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have served in large numbers in every conflict since Australia’s Federation in 1901 and some signed up to colonial forces before this.

It is hard to know the exact number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service people because the Australian Defence Force did not record the cultural background of members until recently. In the early 1900s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were not legally able to join the Army, so many hid their identity in order to sign up.

More recently, many families, Community-members and organisations have been working to bring to light the stories, contributions and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service people.

Attitude to School Survey

During the next few weeks we will be conducting the Attitudes to School Survey with our students in Years 4 to 6. This is a statewide survey issued by the Department of Education and it provides great data on how we as a school are supporting the wellbeing needs of our students. The Positive Behaviour Support and Respectful Relationships (SWPBS/RR) Team will analyse this data and determine the future work across our school to ensure that we have happy, healthy students who are ready to learn.
