Sport - Congratulations!

Wantirna District Athletics - 3rd overall for St Simon the Apostle

Determination and enthusiasm was displayed by all students who represented St Simon the Apostle at the Wantirna District Athletics last week. It was so exciting to see many of our students practising before their event and guiding each other to throw their best, jump their furthest and run their fastest. We are all so incredibly proud of their efforts on their day and their team comradery. 

The efforts of our students resulted in our school coming third overall amongst the schools in our district, a valiant achievement and the highest we have been as a school at the District Athletics competition. We wish to congratulate and recognise the accolades of our track and field stars below, many of them making it through to the next stage with the Division Athletics Championships. We wish these students the best of luck next term at the Division stage on Wednesday 18th September.

 District Cross Country: St Simon came 2nd Overall in Wantirna District

Our school had an amazing result at the District Cross Country last Friday! We are in astonishment and awe of our students who ran the course with perseverance to get ahead of their competitors! It was great to also see the competitive and team spirit of our St Simon Cross Country team. All our students encouraged and cheered positively on their fellow students with pride for our school, there were even a few of our students coaching others on how to navigate the course for their race.

Amongst the 15 Wantirna and Scoresby District schools competing in each race, all our students pushed themselves to the limit in their respective 2 km or 3 km race.  There were some very proud moments for our 9/10 yr old girls and boys who were competing for the first time and end up with an amazing result for themselves. A large quantity of our students in the 11 yr old and 12 yr old race finished within the top 60, a grand result considering they were competing in a field of between 120 -150 students. 

We want to particularly congratulate the following students who made it within the top 20 and have advanced through to the Division Cross Country Championships on Wednesday 29th May at Mirrabooka Reserve.
