Senior School News

We can hardly believe it, but we're already halfway through the term! Time truly flies when we're immersed in learning and growth.

English:

In our English classes, both Grade 5 and Grade 6 students are deeply engaged in their respective novel studies. Grade 6 students are enthralled by "Rivet Boy" by Barbara Henderson, drawing inspiration for their persuasive writing unit which focuses on the theme of child labor as a violation of human rights. Meanwhile, Grade 5s are captivated by Michael Morpurgo's "War Horse," refining their writing skills through narrative exploration.

Maths:

Exciting progress is evident in our Maths classes! Grade 6 students have completed a successful unit on fractions and are now tackling angles, while Grade 5s are mastering multiplication and division, ensuring a solid foundation in fundamental mathematical skills. It is great seeing the benefits of a daily review in Maths and witnessing the students skills become more automatic.

Topic:

This term's theme, "Seeing the Light," is illuminating students' understanding of observable light phenomena. Through hands-on experiments, students are discovering the characteristic behaviours of light, including absorption, reflection, and refraction. To enhance their learning experience, we encourage students to bring torches for upcoming experiments.

Confirmation:

Our Grade 6 students recently completed the Sacrament of Confirmation, a significant milestone in their spiritual journey. They were commended by Bishop Tony Ireland for their preparation and dedication, with special thanks to Mr. Blake for his guidance.

Extracurricular Activities:

Congratulations to all participants of the talent show! Your courage and talent shine brightly, reflecting the spirit of our school community. Additionally, our interschool sports program continues to foster teamwork and sportsmanship among Grade 5 and 6 students. Furthermore, visits to Fernhill Nursing Home are cultivating empathy and communication skills, enriching both our students and the elderly residents.
