Mother's Day

To all our beautiful Mums, we hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. In case you missed it, here's a QR code for our Juniors' performance at the assembly last Friday.

We were thrilled to welcome you all into our classrooms after the assembly.

Prep News

In Prep we are learning about 'Open Syllable' words.

In an open syllable word, the vowel is NOT trapped and it CAN say it's name!

In writing, we are beginning to independently compose sentences that include the key elements of 'who', 'what', and 'where'. In maths, we are focusing on understanding numbers and mastering number bonds to 10, building these on a tens frame and writing the corresponding number sentence. As part of our Respectful Relationships programme, we are revisiting our important classroom values of honesty, respect, and kindness, ensuring that we create a positive and supportive learning environment for everyone.

Year One

In Year one we are learning the 'Cat Kite' and the 'Sail Away' rules.

K takes 'i', 'e' and 'y'

C takes the other three!

use 'ai' at the beginning or middle of a word and 'ay' at the end.

We are focusing on the irregular word "was," mapping it until we can confidently spell it in our writing. For writing, we are learning to use subordinating conjunctions like "before" and "after" to create more detailed and connected sentences. In maths, we are exploring the concepts of capacity and mass, understanding how to measure and compare different amounts and weights through hands-on activities and experiments.

Year Two

In Year Two, we are learning the 'Rabbit Rule'.

If a word has two consonants between two vowel's, we divide the word between the consonants.

In writing, we are focusing on how to  improve our sentence structure by incorporating subordinating conjunctions such as "although," "even though," "after," and "before" at the beginning of our sentences. This helps us create more interesting sentences. Additionally, in Maths, we are mastering the addition of two-digit numbers using an empty number line. This method allows us to visualise the process of adding numbers step by step, making it easier to understand and solve problems efficiently.

In Topic, we've been investigating the effects of applying heat to chocolate.
