Student Leadership

Dear Saltwater Community,
Our student leaders have had an incredible year demonstrating responsibility, teamwork, and dedication across the school. As we enter Term 4, our focus continues to be on strengthening student voice and ensuring every student at Saltwater College feels heard, valued, and connected.
This term, our leaders will be unpacking the 2025 ATOSS (Attitudes to School Survey) data, identifying key themes around student engagement, wellbeing, and connectedness. Using this feedback, our leaders will collaborate to develop practical actions and ideas that make a difference in our classrooms and across the school community.
In addition, our student-led clubs will continue to run throughout Term 4, giving students a chance to explore their interests, share their passions, and build leadership skills in a fun and supportive environment. From Coding and Yoga to Construction and Board Games, there’s something for everyone!
We’re so proud of how far our student leaders have come this year, their initiative and commitment truly reflect our school’s values and the spirit of the IB Learner Profile.
Exhibition & Student Voice
Our Year 6 Exhibition has been a powerful celebration of student agency, collaboration, and voice. Over the past term, students have led every element of the Exhibition, from researching topics that matter deeply to them, to designing interactive displays and educating their peers on issues that inspire action and change.
Throughout the Exhibition week, our Year 6 changemakers have welcomed every class in the school to the gym, proudly guiding them through their booths. Visitors were encouraged to learn through play with interactive games and activities designed by students to engage, inform, and inspire action.
Student leaders also took on key responsibilities, greeting and introducing visiting classes, accompanying important guests through the Exhibition, and welcoming members of our local council and community. Their confidence, communication skills, and ability to lead with empathy have truly showcased what it means to be principled, knowledgeable, and caring learners.
This experience has highlighted how powerful student voice can be when young people are given the opportunity to take the lead. Our students have not only demonstrated their understanding of the PYP framework, but also shown how their learning can make a genuine difference in their community and beyond.
