Year Six

Dear Year Six Families,

Welcome back to Term 4! We are so excited to see what our students’ final term of primary school has in store for them. It’s shaping up to be the busiest and best term yet.

Exhibition

The Year Six Exhibition is an important and exciting milestone where our students showcase their learning, creativity, and the actions they have taken to address significant global and local issues.

Over the past weeks, our Year Six students have been working diligently to finalise their action pieces. They have been practising their presentations with enthusiasm, fine-tuning their delivery, and preparing to share their projects with the Saltwater community.

Exhibition is truly a celebration of their learning journey — a culmination of inquiry, reflection, and action. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and cannot wait to see it all come together this week.

"I'm so excited to display my learning through my action pieces and research boards!"

- Rachel Khaw, 6F

Students' Contribution by Josh Webb and Jasper Martin, 6F

The Year 6 Exhibition Week began on Tuesday, 16 October. The Year Sixes presented their work to peers, teachers and other members of the community. In addition, the booths were visited by special guests such as the school reviewers, Cr Susan McIntyre from Wyndham City Council, The Hon Tim Watts, member of the House of Representatives representing the Victorian seat of Gellibrand and many more.

Groups showcased their hard work through engaging activities, conversation and displays. We truly enjoyed our experience preparing for Exhibition. We are proud of the work that everyone had put in.

Reading and Writing

In Reading and Writing, our focus is biographies. This term our students will delve into the purpose, features and structure of the text type through texts written by others and writing biographies of their own.

Mathematics

In the coming weeks, our students will be learning to estimate, construct, and measure angles in degrees using appropriate tools, such as a protractor. They will also explore how these measurements relate to the different types and names of angles. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, they will develop their understanding of geometric reasoning and building confidence in applying these skills to real-world contexts.

Sports

Our sports teams started the term with a big bang playing at the Hobsons's Bay Divisional Finals on 8-12 October.

The softball team started the playoffs strong by winning  divisional champions on 8 October. Our basketball team won the first game but missed being the overall champion by a point. Nevertheless, they are still champs in our eyes. Our volleyball teams played with grace and great sportsmanship. Both boys' and girls' teams will make their way to Regionals. Congratulations to all teams!
