Year 1

This week the students have had the amazing opportunity to listen to Aboriginal stories from Marty. How lucky we are to have someone with a wealth of knowledge and passion. The grade 1 and foundation students learnt about the Emu in the night sky and how it came to be. They also got to see and hold an emu egg! Thanks so much Marty!

Year 2/3

Hi All,

We were super lucky this week to have Dr Matthew David (Ezra’s and Chloe’s Dad) come in who is the Director of New Frontier Technologies to talk to the children about telescopes, rockets, robotics and Terri’s favourite baby stars. The children were super engaged and had so many fantastic questions. Please enjoy the photos below. Have a wonderful weekend.

Year 3/4

Visit to Nino Early Learning Centre

Today we went to Nino’s and we played with the children and read them books. I felt happy and curious if she would remember me next time. We all had different partners and got to know what they were like and what activities they could do. My buddy was fun and she was really smart and knew about mixing colours.   Tazlyn

We went to Nino’s and got to play with kindergarten children. I felt happy to play with them. My buddy liked to talk a lot.   Sharlotte

When I went to Nino’s, at first I thought ‘Oh great this is going to be boring’ and then after I read a book with Yash I went to do some fun activities with him. Then I played with Martin and then joined Viraj, Rayzon and Luke. Then I was walking around and Yash poked me and I got scared but then we played it as a game and had lots of fun.   Lawrence

Year 4/5

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I'm finally back,   just for two days a week at the moment! As most of you know, I slipped on the last two steps on my house over three months ago now. I ended up having surgery after breaking four bones on my ankle (ouch!).

With the help of a frame, a moon boot, crutches, and lots of physio, I’m slowly getting back to my normal, ‘walking’ self. I’m so happy to be back at Sacred Heart, especially to see my wonderful Year 4/5 students again!

What a project that was!

Our Religious Education topic this term was focused on Creation. We viewed many perspectives of the story including the Aboriginal Dreamtime stories, the Genesis and the Scientific aspects of it, as well as everything in between! To represent our learning, we set off on a mission to forge the greatest of murals. It was made out of pieces of tissue paper and depicted how God made the universe as said in Genesis 1. It turned out to be an outstanding and wonderful experience. It all looks fantastic!

This term in Religious Education, we have been learning about Creation, focusing on The Seven Days of Creation. In my group, we explored the fourth day, when God created the sun and the moon. I really enjoyed working as a team with my friends and learning together.     By Massie

We have been learning about God’s stories and one of them was the Creation story in Genesis 1. We took information from our research. Each group had a part of the story to create. My group got the moon and the sun, being the light for day and the moon for night. By Tristan

For the past weeks, the year 4/5 have worked on chapter 1of the Genesis Bible story. It is about God and the seven days of Creation. Groups of 3 or 4 students worked on a different day to show what God created on that day. We used tissue paper to ‘give our poster life’. Then, all the days were put in the right order for a window-like shape to make a timeline on the Genesis 1 story of Creation.     By Brenton

For my Creation topic, I got to work on the first day of Creation. We also did some work on pilgrims and how to be a good pilgrim on our journey to God. I believe that everyone’s part that they did on the Creation story, was amazing!     By Kaitlin

Year 5/6

It has been another busy yet enjoyable week in Year 5/6.

Students this week have begun locating and recording information about a topic they have chosen in our Earth and Space Science unit. This followed on to using this information, and presenting it in a way they would like to, such as a PowerPoint presentation or in a quiz. It has been great to see the students developing their researching and paraphrasing skills.

Here are some photos to show you some of the topics students have loved learning more about this term!!
