This week in the Catholic Church we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary (12th September). Mary shows us how to live with faith, kindness, and trust in God. Her example encourages us to bring light and joy to others in our school and community.
School Review
This week we welcomed Craig Tanner to Sacred Heart on Monday and Tuesday as part of our School Review process. Craig spent time looking at our school data, visiting classrooms, and engaging in conversations with staff, students, and families. He has already shared some key strengths and opportunities with our Leadership Team and will return on October 16 to present his full report and the SIF Rubric.
Strengths Noted by Craig Tanner
Craig highlighted many of the wonderful strengths of our school community. He noted that students are at the centre of decision making and that Sacred Heart is a warm, welcoming school built on respect, trust, and strong relationships. He commended the dedication of our teachers, the supportive culture among staff, and the broad curriculum offered for a small school. Parents, LSOs, and students alike spoke of feeling valued, included, and well supported.
Craig also recognised our academic achievements, noting the consistent teaching practices and programs that support student learning. Importantly, he observed that we care for the whole child, nurturing their academic growth as well as their social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Our strong Catholic identity, positive learning culture, and holistic approach to education were highlighted as key strengths.
We sincerely thank our whole community for their openness, feedback, and ongoing support as we continue to grow together. Excellent team work, everyone!
This Week at Sacred Heart
Foundation & Year 1 Assembly
Yesterday’s assembly was excellent, showcasing our students’ magnificent learning, including their explorations of Earth and Space Science. They impressed everyone with their curiosity and creativity.
Inquiry Learning – Years 2 to 6
Students in Years 2 to 6 have been working on their actions for their Inquiry Learning on Earth and Space Science, using a rubric to guide their progress. Excellent work from all students as they explore, investigate, and apply their learning in creative ways!
Congratulations
Well done to Olivia, Tiffany, Katelin, Isabella, and Aleisha for progressing to the second round of District Athletics. We are so proud of your efforts and achievements! A big thank you to Mark and Prem for supporting our students and helping them get to and from the event safely.
Swimming Program
Next week, students in Foundation to Year 4 will participate in our swimming program on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We’re excited to see them develop new skills, confidence, and water safety awareness in a fun and supportive environment.
Term 3 Celebration – Casual Clothes Day!
To celebrate our wonderful Term 3, students can come to school in casual clothes on Friday, 19th September.🎉
After School Care
Vacation Care for the Holidays at St Mark’s

MACS Eye is unable to provide Vacation Care at our school. However, we have been able to negotiate with our previous provider, Youth Leadership Victoria (YLV), for Sacred Heart students to participate in the holiday program at St Mark's Primary School, Fawkner.
For a number of years, our students have joined with students from St Mark's to take part in this program, and it has always been a positive and enjoyable experience.
