Aladdin Special

What a week it's been - Congratulations to everyone involved in our Production of Aladdin Jr. It was such an impressive show and we hope you all got as much enjoyment from watching it as we did!

Learning in Action

Literacy

Grade 5 students have been looking at parallel storylines. Parallel storylines refer to multiple narratives or plot threads occurring simultaneously in a story. These separate threads may involve different characters, locations, or time periods, but they are interconnected and often contribute to the overall plot and themes of the story. Students have been exploring Finding Nemo as an example of this, looking at the storyline of Marlin and Nemo. Linking to parallel storylines, students have also been looking at different character perspectives and placing themselves in a characters ‘shoes’. Students have been looking at the interactions between Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter and exploring how each character would be feeling in the same situation.

Maths

Grade 5 students have been applying their knowledge of Financial Maths through completing an investigation where they are sticking to a budget of $500 (party), $5,000 (2 week holiday) or $50,000 (renovation). Students can choose how they want to spend their money, and we can't wait to show you if they spend their money wisely...

Inquiry

This term, the Senior School students are focusing on thinking globally and learning about social justice, with the ultimate goal of making a difference in the world. Below are our goals for students to know and understand:

  • Our needs and wants are unlimited but the resources available to satisfy these wants are limited.
  • In our world there are some people who have more than they need, some people who have enough, and others who do not have enough resources to meet their needs.
  • There are people across the world, within Australia, and in our community who cannot access what they need to maintain their wellbeing and safety.
  • We all have a responsibility to contribute to a more ‘equitable’ world where the dignity of every person is recognised

These goals will lead students to develop an entrepreneurial spirit, and design a Market Day stall with the aim of raising money and awareness to make a difference in the world.

Sport

This term we have many sporting events taking place. Below you can find the list of all the events coming up.

Please ensure you keep checking compass for any details about the events.

We want to wish all of our teams and individual students competing at these events the very best of luck. Again, a big THANK YOU to Mr. Thomas who has done a wonderful job with organising all of these events for our students.
