Class of 2023 Alumni Address

Ms Hammond - Alumni Coordinator

Elijah Jones, College Captain for the Class of 2021, spoke at our whole school assembly to farewell our Year 12 students on their final day of secondary school. Elijah spoke about how he is working as a tutor at the college while studying a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts, alongside a Bachelor of Education, at Monash University. He spoke about his recent travels, experiencing different cultures and making amazing friendships along the way.

Elijah recalled his last day at Cranbourne Secondary College two years earlier, the turmoil of emotions, the excitement to finish high school, his determination to do well in exams, ambitions to go to university and to travel to as many countries as possible. He also spoke about his apprehension for the future and self-doubt. “Optimism for the future comes a fair share of fear. I was self-critical with thoughts like what if my perfect life plan doesn’t pan out the way I want.” He reminded students that these fears are normal and that their life ahead is what they make of it, saying, “Now is your chance to take on the world and find and pursue your passion. Always remember that opportunities to achieve greatness are within your grasp.”

We are so proud of Elijah and his achievements, and we thank him for sharing his experiences with the Year 12 cohort and for inspiring them as they begin their post-high school journey.
