Leader of Learning – Literacy Across the Curriculum

On Wednesday, October 4 our college celebrated International Literacy Day (internationally observed on September 8th), which aims to promote the importance of universal literacy as a strategy to build a more sustainable and peaceful world.

The day, celebrated around the world since 1967, reminds us that Literacy is a matter of dignity for a person; in fact, it is considered a human right.

To celebrate the occasion, three of our top performing Year 12 English and EAL students presented persuasive speeches to all Year 7s and 8s in the theatre. Year 12 EAL student, Fatima, spoke about increasing the funding for refugee intake programs. Next, Year 12 English student, Logan, spoke about banning TikTok. Finally, English student, Alma, spoke about embracing ChatGPT in education.

The students did a sensational job and we hope that our Year 7s and 8s were inspired.
