Ms Amvrosiadis

STEAM Coordinator

This year, we are proud to have two STEAM ambassadors at Casey Tech School; Vaishnavi Negi and Oscar Moore from year 9 STEAM class. Both students are heavily involved with STEAM projects at Casey Tech School outside school hours, where they use new innovative equipment and forms of modern technology. Recently, they were involved and prepared for a STEAM festival that Casey Tech School held for primary school students ranging from grades 4 to 6.

This is Vaishnavi’s statement about her experience at Casey Tech School and especially preparing for the STEAM festival:

“As a student not knowing anything about STEAM to being a Student Ambassador, I saw a lot of things and STEAMFEST was one of the most memorable events in my whole life where I was proud of grade- 4, 5 and 6 students for learning new things from different metal chemicals to change the colour of fire or flying drones or learning about green screens. Also, great thanks to my team, as we taught them ‘How to trick their body’ and even make them talk to ‘ALEX’ our 65 year old robot, which some of the kids liked but as he’s old and dying, they were even scared of him. It was the best experience of my life where I overcame my fear of crowds and I would like to thank Ms  Amvrosiadis for giving me the opportunity like this and I enjoyed it very much”.

The year 9 and 10 STEAM classes attended the sustainability housing program at Casey Tech. It was a successful event where students discovered ways of using new technology to build sustainable houses which are energy efficient. Our students were well-behaved and showed initiative in their building designs

The 7E STEAM class embarked on a creative endeavour, crafting and refining innovative milkshake recipes with the goal of minimising food wastage. This engaging project aimed to explore strategies to conserve resources and curb the unnecessary disposal of food. The students of 7E STEAM exhibited exemplary teamwork and proficiency in the kitchen. From conceptualising unique milkshake recipes to meticulous testing, they not only showcased their culinary prowess but also fostered a collaborative environment by sharing constructive feedback with their peers. Demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility, the students diligently cleaned up, leaving the kitchen spotless—a testament to their commitment to sustainability and efficient resource utilization. On behalf of the STEAM team, I extend heartfelt gratitude to Jen Rice, Tony Stops, Kiah Johnson and Kirsty Roberts for their invaluable contribution in bringing the STEAM milkshake activity to fruition. Your support has played a pivotal role in turning our vision into reality, and we sincerely appreciate your commitment to fostering innovation and educational initiatives within our community.
