Foundation News…

For the past few weeks, the Foundation students have been learning about the concept of Money. We have learnt that money has different features, where we identified the different sizes and shapes, colours, and pictures. In addition to this, we have been identifying the value of coins and linking this back to our knowledge of place value. In a fun, interactive lesson this week, the Foundation students set up their own market shop with the 'little shops'. They worked collaboratively in groups, where they priced up their items, and took turns being customers and cashiers (there were some real bargains). This task made us more familiar with the value of items, understanding and recognising coins based on their features and for some of the students, we were able to extend to calculating a collection of coins. Here are some snaps of the process of our market stalls!
