Remembrance Day

This year, Remembrance Day falls on a weekend: Saturday the 11th of November. As such, we will not be hosting our usual, full-length commemorative assembly at school this year. However, we will still be discussing the significance of this date with our students in the classrooms and holding a respectful minute of silence at an extended assembly in the week leading up to it.

This assembly will start at 2.25pm on Friday the 10th of November - the day before this important commemorative event takes place across the nation. Parents, Grandparents & visitors are most welcome to attend. Please enter using the side gates which will be opened at 2:20pm.

Poppies are well known as the traditional flower of remembrance.

Our school has been provided with a small number of poppy-related merchandise for students to purchase, including:

                                  - $1.00 poppy badges  (there are 50 of the badges available)

                                  -  $2.00 fabric poppy flowers  (currently marked-down to $1.00)                                                      - $3.00 black & red wrist bracelets                                                                                                            -  $4.00 poppy appeal bag-tags

These items can be purchased at the Office (before & after school) - until sold-out.

All money raised from the sale of Remembrance Day merchandise, will be returned to the R.S.L. - a support organisation for men and women who are currently or have previously served in the Australian Defence Force.

DPW Colour Run

DPW will be hosting a Colour Run. This will be a fundraiser for State Schools’ Relief.

The Colour Run will be held on Friday 1st of December from 2.15pm onwards.

A gold coin donation would be greatly appreciated. All students are encouraged to participate in the fundraising event.

On the day, there is some key information that parents / guardians need to be aware  of to ensure your child can make the most out of the day and most importantly stay safe.

  • Children should wear an OLD, CHEAP or a WHITE t-shirt. It is encouraged they wear white to allow for the colour to stay and be most effective, however, any shirt is great.

Please don't send your child in their school uniform.

  • Sunglasses or goggles are highly encouraged.
  • Due to the event being outside, please put sunscreen on your child before they leave at the beginning of the day, or have some in their school bag.
  • A towel to sit on in the car on the way home is also recommended.

Parents should be made aware that the food-colouring in the powder may stain the clothes even after they have washed. But that’s the whole point of a Colour Run – to get as messy as possible.

State Schools’ Relief

State Schools’ Relief is a not-for-profit organisation that improves the lives of tens of thousands of disadvantaged Victorian students, and their families, each year.

Our simple and practical service ensures that all students can attend school in warmth and comfort with a greater sense of belonging and improved self-esteem, which in turn enhances their educational engagement.

Issues such as poverty, neglect, family illness, abuse and homelessness continue to affect many Victorian families. We work side by side with all Victorian primary, secondary, specialist and language schools to ensure that any students facing hardship have the necessary items they require for school.
