Victorian State Track & Field Championships

Congratulations to Ethan in SEP who represented CHPS at the Victorian State Track and Field Championships yesterday out at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

Ethan competed in the 12/13 boys Shot Put Multiclass (MC), finishing in 12th place and he also competed in the 100m (MC) finishing 16th overall.

We are so proud of Ethan's efforts and his positive attitude to give absolutely everything a go no matter what. Ethan is a wonderful role model for students with a physical disability at CHPS. Well done Ethan!!

Hooptime Regional Finals

On Tuesday, our Senior girls and boys all-star teams went to the Hooptime Regional Finals at the State Basketball Centre. Both teams did amazingly well. The boys made it to the semi-finals and the girls made the grand final, losing on the final shot, in the last second of the game. All the kids were incredibly respectful of all of their opposition and also the refs. We are very proud of every one of them. Lastly, a huge thank you to our parent helpers, Sarah, Matt, Gareth, Melissa, Sally, and Leigh. The day would not have been possible without you.

Maroondah Children’s Week Twilight Picnic

Last Thursday our Choir and Dance club performed at the Maroondah Twilight Picnic to great success! It was great to see our Choir and Dance club performing to the broader community and demonstrating a love and passion for the Performing Arts. It was wonderful to see a lot of familiar faces in the crowd too. CHPS was well represented both on and off the stage. A proud moment for Croydon Hills.

Christmas Concert:

It’s that time of year again!  CHPS is already gearing up for our annual Christmas Concert on December 5th, gates opening at 5:30pm.  It is set to be a fun evening, with a range of upbeat contemporary Christmas Songs, and some old classics as well, as well as a BBQ organised by our amazing parents association.  Students will assemble in their classes at 5:45pm with 6pm sharp starting time.  The concert is set to end at 7:15pm and students will be dismissed from their classes.  Please ensure your child’s classroom teacher has seen you before taking your child home, just to ensure everyone gets picked up safely.

Maroondah Carols:

Our Choir has also been selected to perform at the Maroondah Carols on December 2nd, for a 10 minute set in the pre-show entertainment from 6:35pm to 6:45pm. So be sure to check us out on the big stage in the Croydon Town Park!

Sustainability and Environment at CHPS

We are feeling accomplished and extra proud of our work at CHPS this week.

Firstly we have succeeded in gaining a Landcare Australia grant to increase the number of plants we can put into the grassland project on the north entry of the school. This will mean the eastern pathway by the tennis courts can also be revegetated with grasses and trees as well as the banks along the senior oval and soccer field

Second, Sustainability Victoria has emailed to say;

I’m pleased to inform you the Core and Energy Modules  - renewals - submitted by Croydon Hills PS have been successfully certified!

I was particularly impressed by the supporting documentation you have uploaded. I have, in fact, made use of some de-identified documents in the Example School.

The sustainability information on the school website is fantastic -so informative. I was also impressed by the annual report.

With regard to the Energy renewal, it was nice to see that you have completed more than just the compulsory actions. The Energy Efficiency Annual Action Plan was one of the best I have seen. I was also very impressed by the curriculum documentation uploaded, particularly the What It Means to be Green unit.“

Finally, thanks to a generous donation of vegetable seedlings our garden club and Interchange volunteers have made a great start to a new growing season. We look forward to loads of fresh vegetables before the end of term.

Scholastic Bookclub

Scholastic Bookclub orders have arrived at the school. We hope to have them delivered to classrooms today (Thursday).  If this is not possible, they will be delivered on Wednesday next week due to the alternate timetable on Monday and Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday. All books were in stock at Scholastic so there are no backorders. Those who ordered gifts have been notified and these are now available for collection at the office.
