🏊🏼‍♀️ Getting ready for swimming:As our swimming program is fast approaching it is important that our students are prepared with their swimmings bags. All items of clothing need to be clearly named. Your child will need to be able to independently dry and dress themselves promptly after swimming lessons and know how to pack all their things away. It may be a good idea to practise at home to build confidence. Many thanks to those parents who have offered to assist this program.

Childsafe Volunteer Training

We value the support of parent volunteers in our many progrmas during the year and these volunteers must complete annual training. Many parents completed this training in late 2022, and it is now to to renew this. There are two upcoming sessions that are being offered;

Friday 3rd November 9-9.40am (onsite)

Wednesday 8th November 5.30-6.00pm (online)

The link for the session is available on the Parent Sentral Calendar.

📚 Reading

We will continue to look at the importance of inferring - using the clues in the picture or text to work out something when it hasn't been explained or has been implied but not directly stated.

What can you do at home?

-Assist your child to read their take home book each night.

-Read a book to your child.

-Ask questions of your child about what they believe the text is about, what they understand is happening and why.

🔡 Phonics

This week we will be learning the 'ar' sound.

What you can do at home?

-What words can you find that have 'ar' in your take home books or texts that you read?

📝 Writing

Students will continue planning and drafting a narrative text, based on a known story. We will be using our iPads to help us with this process.

What can you do at home?

-Check your child is using the correct pencil grip (pointer finger on top).

-Practise writing sentences with a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and a full stop at the end.

-Unpack the stories you read with your child/ren to name the characters, setting, beginning, middle (problem) and end.

🔢  Maths

Students continue to explore multiplicative thinking through the use of repetitive addition and the creation of equal groups. We are also looking at all aspects of measurement over the coming weeks, including length, mass, volume, area, capacity and time.

What can you do at home?

-Practice skip counting patterns especially 2's and 5's

🌏 CBL - Discovery 🔎

We will share our interview notes with our classmates and reflect upon the answers shared. Students will learn about how things such as technology, school, food, music and clothes have changed over the years.

What can you do at home?

Share stories about your memories of school. What is the same and what has changed?
