P & F Happenings

It's almost time... THE 2023 COLOUR RUN IS JUST 3 WEEKS AWAY!!

The Colour Run is the fun-est and most colourful-est day in our school calendar and we cannot wait to see what this year's day brings!!

We've already had a great uptake in profiles being created and funds being raised!!

Well done to the 66 students who have already created your profile! And 29 of you have already started your fundraising!! So far we have raised $2233! Well done everyone!

A special call out to ROHAN in Year 1 who is KILLING IT with his fundraising efforts with an impressive $272 raised so far. I asked him yesterday how he's been able to do it and he said he sent his link to all his family and all of mummy and daddy's friends to ask them to support him in the Colour Run! WELL DONE ROHAN - your persistence in asking is paying off!

But before we get the show on the road we need everyone to take a few actions:

1. CREATE YOUR CHILD'S PROFILE FOR THE EVENT

Creating your child/ren's profile is straightforward. Simply head to our event partner's website and sign up following the prompts. If you have been at school for a colour run in the past the website should hopefully remember you. www.schoolfundraising.com.au

Your profile will be the gateway to all activity related to the event and allow you to start your fundraising. It also acts as a form of confirmation and permission for your child to participate on the day.

2. START YOUR FUNDRAISING JOURNEY

We know fundraising is different for every family so we will leave it to you as to how much or how little you are able to achieve. All funds raised at this event support the delivery of music programs as extra-curricular activities at school. In 2022, we raised just shy of $10,000 dollars, which helped us subsidise the costs for our school band, and we had live music programs at school for everyone to enjoy in Term 3 and early Term 4.

We want to continue to build on this year's accomplishments, and so we are aiming to achieve the same, if not better, in funds again in 2023. Our target has been set at $12,000!

Once your child's profile is set up you will have access to a link to share with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to ask for their support. It will take them straight to a JustGiving online donation page, where our donations are managed.

Here's a quick VIDEO to explain how it all works

Other things you might be wondering about...

What does my child need to run?

The Colour Run is BIGHT and MESSY! All products used are food grade and free from nasty chemicals or inclusions. Did we mention it's messy?! Get yourself a WHITE T-SHIRT, some old shorts and old runners for the day. Maybe opt for a cheap pair from Kmart? Oh and bring a towel/sheet for them to sit on in the car on the way home!! The mess is SOOO worth it!

Can I get involved?

YES!! We need a little army of parent helpers to ensure the day is a great success!  SIGN UP HERE FOR ONE OF THE ROLES ON THE DAY: https://volunteersignup.org/ME9PL

What if my child doesn't want to be coloured?

No worries! We have a special non-colour lap factored into the day, and your child can still enjoy the fun of running through the course and opt to run through bubbles and/or water pistol alley! We will collect more details on these preferences closer to the day.

Is the course accessible?

YES!! With the opening of our new ramp and the upgrade of our lift we are so excited that our event can be even more inclusive this year! We have a special lap planned for any students with mobility issues. There will be a separate communication sent to those families to discuss what will work best closer to the date.

What are the prizes all about? It seems to be all my child talks about!

The partnership that the SchoolFunRun team brings to any school includes the distribution of fundraising prizes to the students. Your child can select a prize based on the amount of funds they raise. The more they raise the bigger the prize. We don't focus on this aspect of our fundraising, it's something that is simply part of our partnership with the SchoolFunRun. But we understand that for littler kids it might be all they think about.

One suggestion that's worked in prior years is to select a prize that can be donated to a children's charity as a Christmas present. We will share more details on this closer to the day.

Can I fundraise in cash?

Our strong preference is for all funds to be raised via the JustGiving portal that you can access through your child's profile. The partnership with the SchoolFunRun and JustGiving ensures that money can be collected in a safe way, and is managed efficiently for our treasurer.

What you can expect at the meeting

Our forum will recap on key initiatives and activities in Term 4, as well as reflect on the accomplishments of the year and any plans already underway for 2024.

As always, we welcome any comments, suggestions or questions in advance of the Forum to be tabled for discussion.

The AGM

As per our constitution, all members of the P&F executive will retire from their roles and stand for re-election at the AGM. The members of the P&F executive have indicated a willingness to continue into a second term, but remain completely open to and welcome interest from any parent wanting to join the executive in 2024 to help lead our school community.

We are seeking interest from parents in our community for the following P&F Executive roles in 2024:

Assistant Treasurer - we propose to elect a new role to join the P&F executive in 2024. To ensure the smooth ongoing oversight of P&F finances and noting the current treasurer's final year at Holy Family will be 2024 the P&F is seeking expressions of interest for an Assistant Treasurer to join the executive in 2024 to work closely with Lawrence and transition into the Treasurer role in 2025.

CSP Alternate Rep - we propose to make the CSP rep role a shared role across two parents from 2024. To ensure representation can be made at Diosean forums regularly, this role will share the representation of our school to the Diocese along with the current CSP Rep, Vincent Giang.

Class Parents Coordinator - we propose to elect a second class parent leader role to help liaise with and support our class parents in 2024.  We have spent some time discussing how we make sure our classes are engaged and a strong community is fostered within a class, across a year group and more holistically across the school. It's become clear that we need to revamp the role of the class parents and create a role that people both want to help deliver and feel valued and rewarded for doing so. For this to be successful, the P&F is committed to ensuring the right support is in place for our class parents, and we recognise that this is no longer the job of one person alone, so we are proposing a second Class Parents Coordinator to join the P&F Executive.
