Middle School Update

From the Sub-School Team

Assistant Principal - Middle School Update

Dear Families,

Throughout Term 4, there has been a large array of extra-curricular activities for our students which has led to learning that has extended beyond the classroom. Our Sub-School leaders are to be congratulated on providing these opportunities and I thank students and their families for supporting these events.

We are now nearly at the end of the term and the school year, and I encourage all students to continue to persevere with their learning and to take every opportunity possible to extend their thinking and challenge themselves to be the best they can be.

Kind regards,

Phil Adams

Assistant Principal - Middle School

YEAR 7 UPDATE

Our Year 7 students have had an amazing seven weeks of learning, focusing on units such as Ancient Egypt, Geometry and script writing. We are very proud of the year that they have had and are excited to reward our students with our Bounce and Zoo excursions at the end of the year!

This term has also been full of fun competitions, including our Year 7 Interschool Futsal Competition, interschool soccer competition, interschool volleyball and a Year 7 and 8 soccer game at lunchtime last week. Our Year 7 champions played a great game against a strong Year 8 side and showed sportsmanship and our ECSC values throughout the game.

As we move into the end of the year, we want to remind our students of the importance of continuing to show up every day ready to embrace our school values, including Respect All and Embrace Learning. This means coming to class on time with all materials, wearing our full school uniform, giving all learning tasks a go and treating our peers and staff with kindness and respect.

YEAR 8 UPDATE

We would like to thank all the year 8 students who attended the recent excursions for their great behaviour and participation. They all represented the school well and we had a fantastic day.

Thank you to all the amazing parents who continue to support their children with education and send them to school with all the resources they need for learning. We would also like to acknowledge all the students in year 8 who continue to show the school values of ‘respect all’ and ‘embrace learning’.

We have some exciting events coming up including:

  • End of year music concert (Wednesday 29th November) from 4:30.
  • Edgars Got Talent (Monday 4th December)
  • Art and technology exhibition. (Wednesday 6th December) 4:30-6:30
  • Excursion to science works (Wednesday 13th December & Thursday 14th December)

As we head to the end of the year it is crucial that students going on holiday empty their lockers and take off their locks.

On the last day, Leadership empties all lockers and any lock will be cut off and equipment in the lockers will be thrown away.

This week, the Year 8 boys played against the year 7 boys in a soccer tournament during lunch. The year 8 boys won 5-0. There were some amazing shots and saves from the year 8 boys. The feedback I received from the umpires and staff watching was that all students who participated showed outstanding sportsmanship and skills. Keep up the great work!

YEAR 9 UPDATE

Our Year 9 cohort has made a terrific return to Term 4. This term will be full of exciting opportunities for the students to get involved in and we are looking forward to finishing the year with great momentum.

Towards the end of Term 3, our students engaged well in lessons and also in extra-curricular events. Our soccer academy continued each Friday afternoon, which eventually resulted in a World Cup tournament on the last day of the term. Students enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and fierce competition.

In week 6, selected students visited Peter Lalor Secondary College to explore trade-based facilities. Students were able to experience certain types of hands-on learning.

In week 9, Students of the selective class "Partners in Crime" made their way into the city to participate in the GTAC environmental crime investigation. Students displayed our school values extremely well.

Exciting opportunities that are coming up in Term 4 include City Experience (Docklands Precinct), Year 9 Exams and a trip to Luna Park to celebrate the end of Middle School.
