Outside School

Hours Care at

Ivanhoe Primary School

16/11/2023, Week 6, Term 4.

Wominjeka to OSHC at Ivanhoe Primary School!

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Wurrunjeri People of the Woi Wurrung people, past, present and future.

The custodians of the Birrarung Marr (Yarra River) and the land which we know, learn and play on, as Outside School Hours Care.

The Children's Program

OSHC students have been contributing to our Caravan of Curry by helping make mini samosa's or curry puffs. Wednesday morning students were put the peelers to work peeling potatoes and onions in preparation for a big day of curry making.

Well done to all of our amazing chefs! Thank you so much for your help!

Thanks also to Kavita for all your help in the preparation to make the curries on Wednesday! We really appreciate it!

Before Care

Chess has become quite popular amongst students of all ages. We have seen children teaching each other rules and strategies which is allowing everyone to better their chess skills.

Hama beads have been back out, as well as beading jewellery from a few donated sets from different families.

After Care

Cricket has been popular outside, tying into the cricket world cup. We often find that popular activities outside tie into what is happening in the sporting world.

Watercolour painting poppy scenes were done for Remembrance Day and Diwali colouring pages and rangoli designs were created to celebrate the festival of lights.

Fair prep has been well under way and will continue to be a focus throughout next week.

Children have enjoyed being able to use the playground more and playing bigger group games like soccer, All it Tiggy and Marco Polo.

For our School Fair:

Fair donations and please if you have any lemons, please could we have some for our Caravan of Curry, they are for a special Indian style lemon drink.

or on the day to help with rice cookers etc... or please see Alexis or Sarah to add yourself to our, 'Caravan of Curry' Fair Day 'helpers.'

We are asking for 1 hour of 'helping' and in good company between 12 pm to 5 pm.

Sustainability:

Also many thanks to everyone who worked so hard during the Working Bee last Saturday! There was so much leaf litter, mulch, sand to help clear around our veggie garden! Special thanks to Tristram for cutting back and clearing all that grass! As well as planning to remove more leaf litter.

It looks amazing!

See you soon everyone,

Triganin!

That's all for now,

From Lexi
