MUN trip to Rome/Výlet na konferenci MUN do Říma

Could you imagine having a say in global issues that affect our world by day and then enjoying authentic Italian cuisine by night? ECP decided to do something a little different this year and so we went to Rome for our MUN trip! A four-day trip that had us debating our selected topics for three days in our specific committees. SGBIS was kind enough to invite us to their school to debate and had organized our schedules so we always knew what was going to happen next.

So aside from the actual debating, on the first day we got to have a look around the Vatican City and even had a tour of the inside where we got to see the Sistine Chapel which was absolutely breathtaking. Even though no photos were allowed to be taken in the Sistine Chapel, being there felt surreal and especially since I was there with my friends from school. Of course, when in Rome, it’s almost a guarantee to have Italian food and that’s what we did for every upcoming dinner. We had fresh pizza, tasty pasta and whatever you can imagine! After our delicious food, we got settled into our accommodations in Trastevere, Rome where we were well rested for the upcoming days. 

The day that followed was an introduction to SGBISMUN and the school where an opening ceremony was held, which enlightened us to what we would be experiencing throughout the debates. This has only been my second MUN ever and even though I was scared to jump into it, the debates actually flowed very well and throughout debating, I built up more and more confidence to speak which I was very proud of as someone who is scared to speak in front of larger crowds. Not only is the debating good, but the amount of memories you actually make there are what really ties this experience together as an unforgettable trip. 

On the last day, before we headed to the general assembly (held at FAO), we fortunately had the opportunity to visit the FAO (Food and agricultural organization) museum where we were introduced to what they do at FAO and what their goals are for the future which are very inspiring. Once our closing ceremony was finished, we were excited to find out that we would be getting to visit the Colosseum! It was only a fifteen-minute walk from the FAO building so there was no reason for us to miss the Colosseum. Let me tell you, eating your favorite type of ice cream and having the Colosseum in your field of vision is something that you should experience at least once in your life. 

Sadly, we had to leave after that to catch our flight, but I loved every moment of this trip, whether it’s getting to explore Rome for what it is or making an impact on the world through debating.

Dokážete si představit, že byste se během dne mohli vyjadřovat k řešení globálních problémů, které ovlivňují náš svět, a večer si užívat autentickou italskou kuchyni? ECP se letos rozhodlo pro změnu, ​​a tak jsme se vydali na konferenci MUN do Říma! Byl to čtyřdenní výlet, během kterého jsme tři dny diskutovali o vybraných tématech v našich specifických výborech. Italská škola SGBIS nás laskavě pozvala na debatování a zorganizovala nám rozvrh, abychom vždy věděli, co se bude dít dál.

Takže kromě samotné diskuse jsme se první den mohli podívat po Vatikánu a dokonce jsme si prohlédli i interiér, kde jsme viděli Sixtinskou kapli, která byla naprosto úchvatná. I když se v Sixtinské kapli nesmělo fotit, pobyt tam byl neskutečný, obzvlášť když jsem tam mohla být s kamarády ze školy. Samozřejmě, když jste v Římě, je téměř jisté, že budete jíst italské jídlo, což jsme zvolili pro každou večeři. Dali jsme si čerstvou pizzu, chutné těstoviny a cokoli si dokážete představit! Po výborném jídle jsme se ubytovali v našem ubytování v Trastevere v Římě, kde jsme si dobře odpočinuli před nadcházejícímu rušnými dny. 

Následující den byl věnován úvodnímu seznámení s konferencí SGBISMUN a školou, kde se konal zahajovací ceremoniál, který nám ukázal, co budeme během debat zažívat. Byla to teprve moje druhá konference MUN v životě a i když jsem se do toho bála pustit, debaty plynuly velmi dobře a během nich jsem si budovala čím dál větší sebevědomí pro proslovy, na což jsem byla velmi hrdá, jelikož se obvykle bojím mluvit před větším davem. Nejenže je dobré debatovat, ale celkové množství vzpomínek, které si tím vytvoříte, je to, co tento zážitek činí nezapomenutelným výletem.

Poslední den, než jsme se vydali na závěrečnou ceremonii (která se konala budově FAO), jsme naštěstí měli možnost navštívit muzeum FAO (Organizace pro výživu a zemědělství), kde jsme se seznámili s tím, co tato instituce dělá a jaké jsou její cíle do budoucna, což je velmi inspirativní. Po skončení závěrečného ceremoniálu jsme s nadšením zjistili, že navštívíme i Koloseum! Bylo to jen patnáct minut chůze od budovy FAO, takže nebyl důvod, abychom si Koloseum nechali ujít. Dovolte mi říct, že jíst svou oblíbenou zmrzlinu a zároveň mít Koloseum v zorném poli je něco, co byste měli zažít alespoň jednou za život.

Bohužel jsme potom museli odejít, abychom stihli let, ale já si užila každý okamžik této cesty, ať už to bylo prozkoumání Říma takového, jaký je, nebo debatování s dopadem na světové dění.

The French Exchange Trip/ Výměnný pobyt ve Francii

During the French exchange trip we spent 4 days in Nantes and 3 days in Paris. The main idea was to see the life of French families and improve our French language level. In Nantes we stayed with host families who took great care of us with interesting trips and activities.

When we arrived in Nantes we met the host families for the first time. I was very nervous but excited at the same time. Luckily for us we already knew our correspondents from their previous trip to Prague, which eased the tension and awkwardness. The following day we visited their school, which was a very enriching experience, since we got to see what French education looks like.

Afterwards, we had a family weekend completely planned by them. My family planned trips to the historical and commercial center of Nantes, we also visited the sea and the ship construction sites. On our last day in Nantes the school programme included a cooking class, where we prepared a meal including a main course and a dessert, and a scavenger hunt with our correspondents in the district called Trentemoult.

On Tuesday we said goodbye to the families and boarded the TGV train to Paris. On the day we arrived in Paris we booked into the hotel and visited the Musée Rodin, with many interesting sculptures. Afterwards, we had freetime, so I visited the river Seine with my friends.

We also had a great dinner at a Parisian restaurant. On Wednesday, we visited the Palace de Versailles, even though the weather wasn't the best, it was a very interesting experience. After the trip we went to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower which had an amazing view of Paris. We also visited another restaurant near the Eiffel Tower and had a great dinner, which when it ended we could see the Eiffel Tower at night with great lighting.

On the last day, we split up into two groups. My group went to the Lafayette gallery located on the Champs Elysées. Afterwards, we met up at the Arc de Triomphe and set off to the airport.

For me, this trip was very enriching and I got to experience living in France, which was the most exciting part of this trip for me.

Během výměnného pobytu ve Francii jsme strávili 4 dny v Nantes a 3 dny v Paříži. Hlavní myšlenkou bylo poznat život francouzských rodin a zlepšit si úroveň francouzštiny. V Nantes jsme byli ubytováni u hostitelských rodin, které se o nás skvěle staraly a nabízely zajímavé výlety a aktivity.

Když jsme dorazili do Nantes, poprvé jsme se setkali s hostitelskými rodinami. Byl jsem velmi nervózní, ale zároveň nadšený. Naštěstí jsme naše partnery už znali z jejich předchozí cesty do Prahy, což zmírnilo napětí a trapné pocity. Následující den jsme navštívili jejich školu, což byl velmi obohacující zážitek, protože jsme měli možnost vidět, jak vypadá francouzské vzdělávání.

Poté jsme měli rodinný víkend, který kompletně naplánovali oni. Moje rodina naplánovala nejen výlety do historického a obchodního centra Nantes, ale také k moři a do přístavu. Poslední den v Nantes zahrnoval kurz vaření, kde jsme si připravili jídlo složené z hlavního chodu a dezertu, a honbu za pokladem s našimi partnery v okrese Trentemoult.

V úterý jsme se rozloučili s rodinami a nastoupili do vlaku TGV směr Paříž. V den našeho příjezdu do Paříže jsme se ubytovali v hotelu a navštívili Rodinovo muzeum s mnoha zajímavými sochami. Poté jsme měli volný čas, a tak jsem se s přáteli vydal na prohlídku Seiny.

Také jsme si dali skvělou večeři v pařížské restauraci. Ve středu jsme navštívili Versailleský palác, a i když počasí nebylo nejlepší, byl to velmi zajímavý zážitek. Po výletu jsme se vydali do druhého patra Eiffelovy věže, odkud byl úžasný výhled na Paříž. Navštívili jsme také další restauraci poblíž Eiffelovy věže a dali si skvělou večeři, po níž jsme si mohli prohlédnout věž v noci, kdy byla krásně osvětlená.

Poslední den jsme se rozdělili do dvou skupin. Moje skupina šla do galerie Lafayette na Champs Elysées. Poté jsme se setkali u Vítězného oblouku a vydali se na letiště.

Pro mě byl tento výlet velmi obohacující a mohl jsem si vyzkoušet život ve Francii, což pro mě byla ta nejzajímavější část celé cesty.

German exchange/Výměnný program s Německem

Following our unforgettable trip to Heidelberg earlier this year, it was finally our turn to welcome our exchange partners from Heidelberg to Prague. 

The week was full of different activities, which I got to experience with my exchange partner but also with my classmates. On the weekend, we explored the city together,  showing our guests the Prague Castle and the other landmarks like Vyšehrad and Petřín. We all had a great time together and tried our best to show them around. My favourite activity was the scavenger hunt around the old town, where we walked  through the city taking photos at famous landmarks. We also enjoyed an amazing boat cruise on the Vltava and a laser game in the afternoon. 

The exchange students were particularly impressed with the stunning architecture of Prague, often commenting on how beautiful and historic Prague felt. They also got to visit the Prague zoo and two museums, in addition to a guided tour of the old town.  

We also had to figure out a plan for the weekend on our own and that was one of the biggest challenges. We tried our best to make it as fun and entertaining as possible but it took a lot of planning and improvisation.  I believe that I have not only improved my German after this week, but also know Prague much better. 

As hosts, the experience was very tiring, but it was super fun. Beyond the obvious benefit of practising our German in real life, we actually discovered many new corners of our own city that we had never noticed before!.

Po našem nezapomenutelném výletu do Heidelbergu začátkem tohoto roku konečně přišla řada na nás, abychom přivítali naše výměnné partnery v Praze.

Týden byl plný různých aktivit, které jsem si mohla vyzkoušet se svým výměnným partnerem, ale i se spolužáky. O víkendu jsme společně prozkoumávali město a ukazovali našim hostům Prahu - Hrad a další památky jako Vyšehrad a Petřín. Všichni jsme si to skvěle užili a snažili jsme se jim to co nejlépe přiblížit. Mojí nejoblíbenější aktivitou byla honba za pokladem ve starém městě, kde jsme se procházeli městem a fotili se u známých památek. Také jsme si užili úžasnou plavbu lodí po Vltavě a odpoledne laserovou hru.

Na výměnné studenty obzvláště zapůsobila úchvatná pražská architektura a často komentovali, jak krásně a historicky Praha působí. Kromě komentované prohlídky starého města měli také možnost navštívit pražskou zoologickou zahradu a dvě muzea.

Dále jsme si museli sami vymyslet plán na víkend, což byla jedna z největších výzev. Snažili jsme se, aby to bylo co nejzábavnější a nejzajímavější, ale vyžadovalo to hodně plánování a improvizace. Myslím, že jsem si po tomto týdnu nejen zlepšila němčinu, ale také jsem mnohem lépe poznala Prahu.

Pro nás v roli hostitelů to byl velmi únavný, ale zároveň super zábavný zážitek. Kromě zjevného přínosu procvičování němčiny v reálném životě jsme objevili mnoho nových koutů našeho města, kterých jsme si předtím nikdy nevšimli!

Debating Competition/Soutěž v debatování

Our students took part in the ECNAIS International Debating Competition last week. One team took first place after an outstanding performance that put them well ahead of anybody else. Our second team also performed admirably, placing fifth.

Naši studenti se minulý týden zúčastnili mezinárodní debatní soutěže ECNAIS. Jeden z našich týmů obsadil první místo za vynikající výkon, který ho vyšvihl daleko před všechny ostatní. Náš druhý tým si také vedl obdivuhodně a umístil se na pátém místě.
