Principal's Report

A reminder to all of our families that next Monday 1st of June is a students free day. No students should attend school.

Our teachers will be using this time to complete a range of assessment and reporting activities. This includes time tomeet with other year level teachers to determine progression points for students according to the Vic Curriculum Achievement Standards for Writing. They will also complete further professional learning on Individual Education Plans and set up for assessments in Term 3.

Semester 1 Reports

We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual.

The reports will be published on Compass by 4:30pm on Monday 22nd June 2026

The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments may not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.

Camp Report

Our Year 5 and 6 students returned from 2 nights at Bayview Adventure Camp this afternoon. Whilst most of the days were drizzly, the sun came out this morning for the last few rotations of activities. Camp activities included raft building (and sinking), canoeing (and capsizing), mountain biking, archery and frisbee golf.  I have heard lots of reports of our students showing our school value of Resilience, when facing the challenges of being away from home, adventurous activities and even some unfamiliar foods. I'm proud to say our students have tried lots of new things this week and have done so with enthusiasm and positivity. Well done campers and welcome home, I'm sure you will all sleep well tonight!  Please see camp page for photos...

The Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is well underway, and there are now fewer than 100 days left to complete the challenge! We encourage all students to continue reading regularly and recording the books they have completed. Every page counts, and this is a fantastic opportunity for students to build their reading skills, discover new books and enjoy the excitement of reading. Keep up the great work and happy reading!

Reconciliation Week

During Reconciliation Week, students participated in meaningful activities to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives. One special activity was creating a “Sea of Hands,” where students decorated and displayed colourful handprints to represent unity, respect and support for reconciliation. It was wonderful to see students engaging thoughtfully and showing kindness, curiosity and understanding throughout the week.

You will see our Sea of Hands display in the garden beds between the office and gym.

Casey Netball Clinic

On Tuesday 19th May, students in Years 3-6 had the opportunity to participate in a netball Clinic run by Casey Netball. It was a great opportunity to learn new and different skills and have fun as a team! We played reaction games, shooting games, tag games and more.

Volleyball Champs

Over the last 4 weeks, Mrs Bevis has run a Volleyball Tournament during lunchtime for Year 5/6 students. Students had to make their own team and come up with their team name. Some of our students were umpires. There were some really close games and some really great skills that improved during the tournament.

The Grand Final was between the Dynamic Dino Nuggs and Volley Chicken Saga. Volley Chicken Saga were the champions and got to play the staff on Monday.

Clyde Community Centre Library Visits

Starting next week, classes will begin visiting the Clyde Library at the Community Centre on Valetta Street. After our Year 6 leaders visited last term, teachers and students have eagerly been awaiting their time to explore the cosy space! Library staff, Jill and Kristen, are also keen for our students to access the library and enjoy sharing their love of books and reading within our community.

Students will be provided the opportunity to borrow books using their family account (if they have a family membership). Any books borrowed under a family membership will be the responsibility of families; and this includes ensuring they are returned.

To ensure your child can participate in these visits, please make sure you have provided Local Excursion consent on Compass. Also, keep an eye out on Compass for details about when your child’s class is going.

The Clyde Library is open Monday – Friday, 9am til 5pm. After hours book collection is also available. Lego Club runs from 4pm on Tuesdays and anyone is welcome.

Small absences add up

It’s easy to underestimate the impact of a few missed days here and there. However, the effect over time can be significant:

  • Missing just one day per fortnight adds up to nearly four weeks of lost learning across the school year.

A shared commitment

Supporting strong attendance is a partnership between families and schools. Establishing consistent routines, prioritising school days, and communicating openly when challenges arise can make a meaningful difference. Every day a student is at school is an opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

If your family is experiencing difficulties with attendance or punctuality, please reach out to the school—we are here to support and work together to find solutions. Every day a student is at school is an opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
