5CL & 6S Learning
Week 6
5CL and 6S learning
The year 5 and 6 inquiry cycle has focused on fair trade this term. The students have continued working on their task work that inquires into the process of everyday items, how they have got from a farm to our hands. We have looked at the lifecycle of a cocoa seed and what happens for it to become chocolate, the tea process and how it is usually transported from China, India or Sri Lanka then onto our shores and the process of making clothes.
In numeracy, we have continued to look at fractions, focusing on naming and adding fractions. Students have been using shapes and tangible materials to explore this concept.
Swimming has also been keeping us busy the last two weeks but it has been remarkable watching students progress over the two week block.
They also spent an afternoon buddying up with the Foundation students.
Thank you to Fitzroy Lions Soccer Club who have been running soccer clinics at lunch time with the 5/6 students.
