Dear Parents and families,

Another amazing fortnight celebrated at Sacred Heart. Whilst showing new families around on Open Day last Monday, they were absolutely blown away by the focus and concentration of all students during Literacy, Maths and Respectful relationships lessons.  A huge thanks to our student leaders Tilly, Paddy, Kit, Rahni, Claudia, Will, Finn, Lachie and Milo for taking around our new families and showing them all Sacred Heart has to offer in meaningful and honest tours, from the student perspective.  Congratulations to all students and teachers but especially our preps who have completed their very first full week of school this week. There will be  a few tired preps this weekend needing to catch up and rest.

Preps & Respectful Relationships

What a pleasure it was teaching the preps a respectful relationships lesson about appropriate playground behaviour taking turns and making new friends. We watched a Bluey episode that taught us how to make friends, be respectful, take turns and be kind to one another. The preps made a booklet that they took home to share with theor families, their first prep homework!

LIBRARY PACK UP

As we prepare for our Refurbishment in term 2 our library has been packed away in a meticulous fashion. We can't thank Stacie Stewart, our amazing LSO for organising and co-orefinatng this operation and to Brooke Jamison & Sonya Hospodar for giving up their time to support Stacie and get it done in less than a week. Thanks to the wonderful and strong year 6 students who helped Stacie pack it away too.  Simon and I were absolutely amazed that we set the task and it got completed so quickly!

EASTER RAFFLE

Our P & F are organising our annual Easter Raffle which will be drawn on the last day of term in assembly on the 28th of March. Please see the details on Audiri for what each class is to bring and tocket deatils through CDF.  We thank Kate Shawcross, Adele Whineray and their team for organising this annual yummy fundraiser!

PARENT HELPER'S COURSE

Thanks to all the parents who attended the parent helpers course last Friday afternoon. It was so brilliant to see so many new faces from new families in our community. We encourage you to come along and be part of your child's primary school years, you don't get these years back! Whether its helping out with the P & F or on a school excursion or comimg along to running for Canberra like so many paremts did this week, we really appreciate the support you offer our school. Parent helpers will start in the classroom next term when all students are settled into their routines. Please see your classroom teacher if you are available to help. If you were unable to attend the parent helpers course and you'd still like to help, please contact me direct via email.

LITTLE HEARTS PLAYGROUP

It was wonderful to welcome back our little hearts last week. Our Year 6 students were begging me to participate and join our pre schoolers. This is a brilliant opportunity for future students of Sacred Heart to become familiar in our environment and join in some play with other pre-schoolers.  ALL WELCOME!

It was  a delight teaching the Yr 2's literacy on Friday morning. I'm not quite sure who was teaching whom!

Last but not least I have been doing some recent reading on building positive self esteem in childen and the importance as a learner to have positive self worth.  If this is something you would be interested in please let me know and I can share an amazing parenting book with you.

Have a relaxing and well deserved weekend and remember the glass is always half full,  full of hope,
