Outdoor and Environmental Studies

This week, the Unit 3/4 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students spent 3 days canoeing along the Murray river. The students observed the characteristics of the inland waterway and discussed changes to river over time. With an overnight stay at the Barmah National Park, students also learned about the historical significance of the wetlands, with a particular focus on the people of the Yorta Yorta nation and their joint management practices utilised today alongside Parks Victoria. The students and staff covered approximately 80kms of the Murray river, ending up in Echuca, paddling alongside the paddle steamers and barges used in pre-federation times.
