From The Team

It's been an incredibly busy fortnight for us, filled with exciting developments and achievements. Last week marked the official kickoff of our new 'Rigour Session', a dedicated time from 9.00-9.45am every morning. During these sessions our students have been completing their Rainbow Maths fluency tasks and practising their automaticity, spelling, handwriting and typing skills. It has been wonderful to see the students so enthusiastic and focused during these sessions.

Last Friday, our Student Representative Council (SRC), DigiTech and Sustainables representatives proudly received their well-deserved badges during our assembly. They were all very excited to receive their new badges!

Our School Leaders went to the Halogen Leadership Event last Friday with Mrs Rheumer and Sam. They were all up and at the station early, ready to catch the train into the city. They had a wonderful time!

We hope you all have a wonderful two weeks!

What We Are Learning

Reminders

ICT Agreement

As part of Safer Internet Day, all students have filled out their ICT Agreement. They have taken these agreements home and are required to return them to school once they have been signed.

Annual Consent Form

All students must promptly submit their completed Annual Consent Form. If you need a new copy of the form, please contact the office.

Hats

All students must wear a school hat in Term 1. If your child has lost their hat, please check the lost property space or arrange a replacement through the office.

Sustainable Lunches

Our Sustainability team is about to begin auditing the waste and litter contributions of the school. We would love to see our peers using multi-purpose containers in their lunchboxes and reducing the amount of wrappers we bring to school!

Homework

The 5/6 cohort have kickstarted our fortnightly homework tasks! Remember to read for 20 minutes, 5 nights every week, and fill in your diaries to be checked every Friday.

Leadership Breakfast

On the morning of Tuesday 13th February, all of the 2024 School Leaders came together in the 5/6 Collaborative Learning Space for a special Leadership Breakfast. There were delicious hot cross buns, croissants, fruit and juice. Mrs Hartley and Mrs Rheumer spoke to us about being leaders in 2024, and what our role will be. Everyone had a fun time chatting with friends, enjoying a nice breakfast and learning more about leadership at Scoresby Primary School.

School Leaders Badge Presentation

On Friday 9th February, the 2024 School, Vice, HEART and House Captains were presented with their badges by our local parliament member, Mr Kim Wells. We were very excited to be awarded with this special privilege and honour. We felt so grown-up and proud of this achievement that we’ve accomplished!

Halogen Leadership Day

On Friday the 16th of February, all student leaders took a train to the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Center to learn about leadership and captaincy jobs, and experience. There were Australian celebrities giving motivational speeches about never giving up. The speakers were Anesthesia Woolmer (Australia’s best memory champion), Bryson Klein (Ninja Warrior champion), Jane Bunn (meteorologist) and Melissa Barbieri (Matilda’s soccer captain and goalkeeper). There was a DJ named DJ Raff, who was the host of the Halogen Leadership Day. There were over 500 captains from other schools who all learnt to be kind, be resilient and "be the napkin!" (this was a funny saying that Bryson came up with that means be resilient, be persistent and don't give up). We hope to use the skills we learnt during our time in our captaincy roles.
