As part of our Catholic Mission during the season of Lent we raise money for Project Compassion, this money will help many communities in Australia and around the world in need. An initiative that we would like to continue is for students to wear something purple on Fridays to acknowledge our Season of Lent and to donate a gold coin for Project Compassion
This item of clothing should not take away totally from the OLPS school uniform and as such the following items are recommended:
This special initiative will run each Friday for the whole of Term 1 only.
Through our combined efforts, we hope to raise much needed funds to support those in need with Project Compassion. We look forward to seeing our community come together in almsgiving during this season!
On Thursday the 22nd, the families of Year 3 whose children are making their Reconciliation for the first time came together to explore, discern and discuss the Sacrament together.
We read the parable of the Prodigal Son and made connections between our relationship with God and with others and how reconciliation allows us to mend the bonds of broken relationships cause by wrong choices. The students are very excited to continue this learning in the classroom and on our upcoming retreat day in few weeks!
Important Dates for each Sacrament will be added closer to the times.
Sacrament of Reconciliation - Year 3
Sacrament of First Communion - Year 4
Sacrament of Confirmation - Year 6
This week's Gospel brings Jesus in line with everything the Prophets had said before him. He stands atop a mountain glowing in a warm white light and the greatest of God's servants; Elijah and Moses stand at his side. A visible sign that he has come to do God's work on Earth and continue to spread the Good News to the people.
In our modern world, are we ready to continue Jesus' mission of sharing and spreading love, hope and faith to those around us? To let him stand side-by-side with us bathed in his light, guiding the way.
Have a great week ahead and God Bless,
Mr Angelo Iacopino
