Performing Arts

The BPAC has been abuzz with music and drama classes commencing, ensemble rehearsals, auditions and the Senior Production rehearsals now in full swing.

Our ensemble enrolments have peaked with large numbers of students signing up for our large ensembles. Our Senior Choir this year features 100 voices and Senior Concert Band has doubled in size to 40 musicians, which is a direct result of the success of our Year 5 – 7 Instrumental Program. In the Junior School there are 80 students participating in Cherub Choir and Vivace (tuned percussion ensemble) has grown to an amazing 35 students. A few of our xylophones had to come out of retirement to cater for such a number of enthusiastic students. The Junior String ensembles have also started strong and already show much promise. Please contact Mrs Peacock in the BPAC office if your child still wishes to sign up for an instrumental ensemble or choir this year.

Last week there were an increased number of students auditioning for our smaller ensembles and the quality of the auditions was a testament to the dedication and talent of these students. We now look forward in anticipation to the many music performances of these groups and all our music ensembles throughout the year.

Rehearsals for our Senior Production, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, are well underway, with students already putting in the time to learning lines, songs and dance steps. Stay tuned for updates and how to purchase your ticket!

Music, Drama and Performing Arts classes have commenced from the very youngest Prep students right through to Year 12. Individual music lessons are underway, and it is quite usual for you to hear a flute scale blending with a vocal warm-up, whilst in other rooms there is a cello sonata in the background to a piano study. That’s the way we role in the BPAC … a hive of activity, and we love it!
