CECT Attendance Policy
This policy has been updated to better monitor and support student attendance. As a College, and as a System, we are committed to ensuring that all students have the best opportunity to succeed academically, and regular attendance is essential for that. Below is a copy on ‘Tips for Attendance - Every Minute Counts' as information and a guide for parents/carers alongside the Attendance Policy.
We understand that there are sometimes extenuating circumstances and as this flowchart suggests, if your child is experiencing difficulties or school refusing, we encourage you to reach out to us as soon as possible so we can work together to find solutions.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact a member of the Wellbeing Team.
Attendance Procedures
Reporting Absentees
There are a number of ways in which parents and carers can notify the College if their child is absent or will be late to school. These include:
Online: complete the Student Absence Form on the front page of the College website
Email: attendance@mountcarmel.tas.edu.au
Phone: (03) 6216 7900
Parents and carers are asked to notify the College no later than 9:30am. An SMS message will be sent to parents/carers for all unexplained absences.
Appointments During the Day
It is necessary to notify the College Office/Student Services if your child needs to leave the College during class time. Please inform the College Office/Student Services using one of the above contact methods. Early notice minimises disruptions to classrooms during teaching time.
