Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden 2025
For the last fortnight 3/4 M have been the second class involved in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. Last week they coloured and created their placemats which we will use for the entire seven weeks of the program. The students loved adding their artistic flair to the designs.
This week in the garden we got to work and planted a lot of lettuce seedlings, some purple cauliflower, broccoli and garlic. Hopefully over the holidays these new seedlings will get lots of sun and water and give the garden a real boost in produce.
For the last two weeks of cooking, the recipes have needed to include pumpkin. Our pumpkin patch is in overdrive and we are growing an abundance which is wonderful. Last week we made pumpkin fritters and this week we made pumpkin and spinach pasta bake. We also got a special little dessert last week that included fresh rhubarb from the garden. These were Rhubarb and Lemon Muffins. They were so yummy!
Thanks to the wonderful volunteers who in two weeks have given up their time to help us. These people have been Jeff (Annabelle’s Dad), Sharu (Sienna’s Mum), Marg (Charlie’s friend), Wendy (Naomi’s Mum), Melinda (Aaliyah’s Mum), Mandy (Charlie’s Godmother) and Lily (Lannah’s Mum). I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday in the beautiful Autumn weather.
Arigatou!
