Primary Happenings

Senior Primary Athletics

Ingrid Briggs, Matt Perry & Scott Rees, Primary PE Teachers

The excitement was palpable as our brightly coloured Year 3-6 students descended onto the Doncaster Athletics Track last Thursday for the Senior Primary Athletics Carnival. Ezra and Maisie (our Primary School Captains) shared a heartfelt welcome prayer before each House proudly danced, sang and cheered enthusiastically during each of the vibrant House Chants. Congratulations to our House Captains for their leadership, coordination and choreography, and to the Flynn house for securing the chant win!

With pending rain and the threat of strong winds, we praise God for the safety of students and staff and that the full day of competition was possible with students actively jumping, throwing, sprinting and leaping their way through the many events on offer. These carnivals not only provide the opportunity for students to develop skills in teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship, but serve as a reminder of the special and unique way God has made each of us. The encouragement and support our students showed each other was outstanding!

A very popular addition to the schedule this year was the Staff/Student shuttle relay which was a thrilling and joyful end to the competition and a highlight of the day. Mr Perry’s incredible sprint was one for the record books, and we thank our enthusiastic staff for being such willing participants.

Thank you to the Senior Primary staff for facilitating events and supporting students, and to Friends of Donvale for coordinating the very popular coffee cart and providing an icy treat to all our students. Our many parent volunteers and secondary students also ensured that the day ran smoothly, and we are grateful for their willingness to serve our school community in this way.

Congratulations to COOPER House for defending their title as House Athletics Champions and to Isla, Xavier and Nate for leading their team with passion and enthusiasm!

Year 5 Camp

Sulari Nielsen, Year 5 Camp Coordinator

Our Year 5 Camp at Forest Edge was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, teamwork and personal growth. From the moment we arrived, excitement buzzed through the air as students eagerly embraced the challenges and activities ahead.

The days were packed with thrilling outdoor adventures, including River Sledding, Crate Climb, Archery and the exhilarating Flying Fox. Students worked together to problem solve when doing the Initiatives activities, tested their aim in Disc Golf, and cheered each other on at the Climbing Wall. Nine Square in the Air, Gaga Ball and the Low Ropes kept everyone moving, while Hut Building sparked creativity and teamwork. Many challenges required bravery, resilience and determination, and our students rose to each occasion.

Our time at camp wasn’t just about adventure - it was also a time of reflection and faith. Thought-provoking devotions were shared on kindness and seeing how God speaks to us through nature and our friends around us. Uplifting worship sessions filled our camp with joy and gratitude.

One of the highlights was our dress-up evening, where both students and staff embraced the frivolity and fun. Our Trivia night brought plenty of laughter and excitement as teams worked together to test their knowledge.

New friendships were formed, and existing ones grew stronger. With the guidance of all our incredible leaders, students felt encouraged, supported, and nurtured.

Forest Edge Camp was truly a place of fun, adventure, laughter and joy - a time we will never forget!
