Principal's Report

Dear EHPS Parents and Carers,

Welcome back for Term 2!!!

It is great to be back. Thank you to the many families that have greeted me upon my return with warm smiles and best wishes. I had a very relaxing time and now I feel refreshed for this busy term.

This term the children will have many wonderful experiences which will enhance their learning and engagement at school.

ANZAC Day

Last Thursday, we conducted our ANZAC Day service led by Year 6 students. The service was held in the Stadium. Our Year 6 leaders, Flag Captains and musicians all carried out their roles perfectly. The children were so respectful throughout the service and the minute silence was observed impeccably. Every class made beautiful wreaths to commemorate the fallen. The wreaths were presented at the service and are now on display in the Library window. Thank you to all classes and their teachers for the excellent preparation and effort for this very important event.

Dance Concert

In a few weeks we have a very exciting event coming up. On May 12 and 13 we have two spectacular Dance Concerts at Crossway in Burwood East. The children were so excited when they saw and tried on their costumes. On Monday 12 May, the children will have a full run through at the venue. This will help familiarise them with the various parts of Crossway and what is required of them on stage.

Also remember that classes will begin at 10.15am on the morning of Tuesday 13 May to give everyone the chance for a sleep in, after a hectic Monday or a long Tuesday. Further information was distributed on Friday via a separate Compass message by Mrs Cotterell.

The children have been rehearsing so well, and they are really looking forward to putting on their dance routines for their family and friends.

Please refer to the Dance Concert page in this newsletter for more details.

Student Attitude to School Survey

Over the next month, children in Years 4 to 6 will complete the annual student opinion survey. This survey provides important information for the school about the views of children over a range of issues. In the next issue of Contact you will receive information explaining the purpose and scope of the student survey.

Junior School Council

Our JSC Captains and Vice Captains will be acknowledged at our School Assembly on Monday 19 May. Our State Member for Ashwood, Matt Fregon MP, will attend and present badges and certificates to our students who have taken on this important role.

National Walk Safely to School Day

The EHPS community are encouraged to participate in National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 16 May. This national initiative aims to encourage children to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle by simply including a walk at the beginning, at lunch time and at the end of each day. The event also promotes reduced car-dependency, greater use of public transport, cleaner air, improved diets and road safety to primary school children across Australia.

Congratulations!

We congratulate Emily Puyk and her husband Josh on the safe arrival of their son, Tommy Myles. Emily and Tommy are both doing very well.
