A Word from the Principal

Ms Kylie Campbell

A warm welcome to our Weeden Heights community

Cross Country

Go Mungara ….green house!  The official winners of our house cross country competition.   A fabulous event with a sea of house colours and students giving it their all for their house.  I watched students trying their hardest and talked to students who were impressed that they had improved their ranking from the previous year. The new house tee shirts looked incredible and thanks to all of our parents for supporting this new piece of uniform. We do look very impressive in them.

Thank you to all of the parents who supported our students on the day.  You are fabulous and we appreciate your assistance on the day and helping the set up and pack up of the event.  THANK YOU!

PFA Movie Night

Thank you to everyone who attended our PFA BBQ and movie night event.  It was absolutely sensational to see the community to come together to enjoy a meal and watch Paddington 2 which was voted for screening by the students at school.  We hope that your family enjoyed the night and wish to thank you for raising $2250.28! Wow!!

I would like to thank the PFA enthusiastic team and the supporting school council members for their efforts.  You should feel very proud!  The money will go towards our very long wish list and I’m sure the PFA will discuss further after their next activity.

New Faces in our Office

I am hoping that everyone has had the opportunity to meet Beck who is now working in reception at Weeden Heights PS.  She is now one term down and getting to know our ‘Weeden ways’.  We also have Sarah on board as our Business Manager for the past three weeks.  Kerryn is taking extensive long service leave this year.  Please make yourself known to Sarah and Beck and welcome them to the Weeden Heights PS community.

Prep Tours for 2026

I have started school tours with our school ambassadors and the office has had many calls and visits for information regarding enrolments at Weeden Heights Primary School for 2026. Tours and enrolment information is available now.  Positions are filling so if you are an existing family, please complete your enrolment form and hand it in at the office.  As you are aware, accurate enrolment numbers ensures that I can staff the school to the standard that we all expect.

If you know anyone who requires assistance with 2026 placements, please direct them to call our office  and speak with Beck or Sarah to book a tour date and time.

We do rely on the ‘good word’ of our school community to promote the school amongst neighbours and friends. Please assist by talking about the work of the school and your experiences.  Sharing our Facebook and Instagram posts and making comments also assist.    Thank you for helping us with this process.

Next term: Curriculum Day, Easter Monday & ANZAC Day

It is an interesting start to next term as we observe Easter Monday on 21 April and ANZAC Day on Friday 25 April.  The first week back is only three days!

In the second week, there is an approved curriculum day on Monday 28 April so please mark this in your diary as it is a pupil free day. The focus for the day will be the ongoing work on developing the inquiry learning scope and sequence.  We have used all the feedback from parents and students to prioritise the learning and learning outcomes in the Victorian Curriculum.  The staff will continue their work with Dr Jenni Wilson.

End of Term Assembly

Parents are reminded that this term will conclude on FRIDAY 4 April at 2.30pm.  Please note the early closing time.  We will conduct our end of term assembly from the hall at around 2.10pm.   Of course, parents will be welcome to attend.

Term two will commence on TUESDAY 22 April 2025 after a two-week break.  Please take this time to relax with the family as it has been a very big term for everyone.  I hope that you all have a very Happy Easter and enjoy a wonderful holiday.  Please stay safe and healthy.

Until next time……

Kylie Campbell
