Cooking

Each fortnight the children have been cooking food from a different country in the world using fresh produce from our farm. Last week we cooked mini quiche lorraines that come from France. Here are five fun facts about France.

  1. The Louvre is the world's largest art museum, located in Paris. It is the home of the famous Leonardo Da Vinci artwork the Mona Lisa. The Louvre was originally built as a royal palace.
  2. The Tour de France cycle race has been running each year in July for over 100 years.
  3. France introduced the world to hot air balloons, with the first manned flight being in 1783.
  4. France produces over 350 types of cheese.
  5. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited monuments in the world. It was built for the 1889 World Fair. The tower belongs to the city of Paris, however there was even a criminal Victor Lustig who attempted to sell the Eiffel Tower twice.

Enjoy your meal! Remember quiche can make great leftovers if you cover it tightly you can keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

What is happening during the holidays?

During the school holidays the farm will be open for families to access. There has also been a roster created for families to share the responsibilities of caring for the farm space. We would like to thank those families that are available and have agreed to help maintain the farm during this period. If you are visiting the farm during the holidays and notice any issues please contact Mish on 0402 653 377.
