Scholastic Book Fair – Fundraising for Inclusive Stories

We’re excited to be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair in the Wimba Library during Education Week! This event not only promotes a love of reading—it’s also a meaningful fundraiser.

All funds raised will go toward the purchase of culturally diverse books that reflect and celebrate the backgrounds, identities, and experiences of our Wimba students and families. Our goal is to build a library collection where every child can see themselves and others on the page.

Thank you in advance for supporting this important initiative! More information: Scholastic Book Fairs

Introducing PR1ME – Strengthening Mathematics Instruction

As part of our commitment to high-quality, consistent maths teaching, we are excited to introduce PR1ME Mathematics at Wimba. This program aligns with evidence-based practices and supports a Gradual Release of Responsibility approach to lesson delivery.

Each PR1ME lesson is structured into three key phases:

Let’s Learn – ‘I Do’

The explicit teaching phase using Concrete – Pictorial – Abstract pedagogy. Teachers model the concept with clear, guided examples.

Let’s Do – ‘We Do’

A scaffolded phase where students and teachers work together to apply the learning with support and formative checks.

Let’s Practice – ‘You Do’

Students work independently to apply their learning. Teachers differentiate support based on individual readiness and may revisit earlier phases as needed. Learn more: PR1ME Overview Video

A Special Note for Mother’s Day

As we look ahead to Mother’s Day this weekend, we want to extend our warmest wishes and heartfelt thanks to all the mothers, grandmothers, and significant female role models in our school community.

Your care, strength, and support shape the lives of our students and our school in countless ways. We hope you feel seen, celebrated, and appreciated - not just this Sunday, but every day.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Wimba
