We’re delighted to welcome new members to the Wimba community:

Please make them feel at home as they settle into our vibrant and supportive school environment.
Education Week
This year, Education Week runs from Monday 19 May to Friday 23 May. The theme ‘Celebration of Cultures’ highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.

🌟 Student Engagement & Events
Even in just a few short weeks, students have been actively involved in a variety of activities. From sporting events to excursions and incursions, our learners have had rich and engaging experiences outside the classroom that enhance their educational journey.
🌺 ANZAC Day Ceremony
Last Monday, our school gathered for a moving and respectful ANZAC Day ceremony. We are incredibly proud of our student leaders and house captains, who delivered their readings with maturity and reverence.
The most powerful moments came during the Last Post, minute of silence, and Reveille, as our school flags were raised in honour of those who served. The quiet respect shown by all students and staff was a true reflection of Wimba’s core values—particularly the value of Respect.

🧠 Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) – 2025
From Monday 12 May to Friday 13 June, students in Years 4 to 6 will participate in the annual Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS), an important initiative run by the Department of Education.
This confidential survey gathers students’ perspectives on their:

📘 2025 Annual Implementation Plan – Focused on Learning and Wellbeing
Each year, all Victorian government schools are required to develop an Annual Implementation Plan (AIP). This important document outlines the key goals, strategies, and actions we will take to improve student learning, wellbeing, and engagement throughout the year.
We’re pleased to share a summary of Wimba Primary School’s AIP for 2025, which continues to build on our strong foundation and aligns with our school’s vision of inspiring every learner to thrive.
🎯 2025 AIP Priorities
Our main priorities for 2025 are:
- Strengthening Student Learning – with a sharper focus on improving numeracy outcomes
- Supporting Student Wellbeing – ensuring every learner feels safe, supported, and engaged
These goals are underpinned by two Key Improvement Strategies:
- Learning - We aim to support all students—those needing additional scaffolding and those ready for extension—particularly in the area of numeracy.
- Wellbeing - We are committed to mobilising the right resources and supports to enhance student wellbeing and mental health across all year levels.
📊 12-Month Growth Targets
To guide our efforts, we’ve set ambitious growth targets for student achievement in 2025:
- Reading: 90% of students will make at least 12 months of learning growth
- Writing: 90% of students will make at least 12 months of learning growth
- Numeracy (Number): 90% of students will make at least 12 months of learning growth
These targets reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring every child at Wimba PS is supported to achieve their full potential.
We look forward to working in partnership with our families and the wider school community to achieve these goals. Together, we can create a strong, nurturing, and high-achieving environment for all our learners.
