Prep: Are developing their sense of rhythm and coordination through body percussion, exploring how movement and sound connect to create patterns in music. They are experimenting with clapping, stomping, patting and snapping to internalize steady beats and simple rhythmic sequences.

Grade 1&2: Are being introduced to foundational music theory concepts, focusing on crotchets and crotchet rests to understand rhythm and note values. Through hands-on activities and guided practice, they are learning to recognize, clap, and notate simple rhythmic patterns.

Grade 3 & 4: Building on their music theory knowledge, grade 3&4 are refining their ability to read, write, and perform musical notations. By engaging in rhythmic exercises and instrumental practice, they are deepening their understanding of note values and develop confidence in musical literacy.

Grade 5 & 6: Are expanding on their knowledge of music theory by working with crotchets, crotchet rests, and quavers to create and perform their own rhythmic compositions. Through structured activities and creative exploration, they are tasked with arranging unique bars of music and bring their compositions to life through performance.

Visual Art

During term 2, grades Prep, One and Two will be continuing to explore and engage in a variety of art activities including clay work, painting using unconventional painting tools, threads and textile studies and construction and modelling.

It will be a busy term and hopefully everyone will be able to participate and enjoy all the new mediums we will be using.

In the mean time if you have a spare minute please come and have a look at the work displayed in the corridor from last term.
